My little Acer HTPC thingy only has two SATA ports so I decided to tap into the unused eSATA port at the back to make a third (so I can run two hard drives and the BR/HD-DVD drive):



Of course, if the cable were to get damaged down the line I'd have to open it all up and redo it but hopefully it'll be fine.

Now I know what you're thinking - why not just buy a SATA controller card?

Answer: That's loser talk!

(if it helps, I did buy a SATA power splitter even though I was planning on hacking an extra power cable into the existing one!)
