Ok, I need some ideas for what to get my girlfriend of a few months for her birthday. I'm absolutely crap at getting people presents (especially women) but want to make a good impression with this one. Perfume, lingerie etc. is a bit too predictable so is out if the equation.

Over to you people...

the best presents are the ones that dont cost much, like taking/picking her up from work, cooking her a meal, making her a bath, letting her pick a movie to watch, making her a packed lunch with a little note in it to say hello, all the little things that take the stress out of her day, sounds corny but she'll love it.

I'm the same, been seeing this girl quite casually for a a few months now but getting a bit more serious and it's her birthday next week. Already taking her out for lunch to a nice Italian on her birthday which she likes and then going to the cinema afterwards and then off for a few drinks but still need to buy some kinda present and I'm unsure.

I'm personally not a big fan of spending loads of money on presents and would rather a nice day to remember but she's always been lathered in gifts from boyfriends and her dad so feel I need to follow suit in some way too because I don't wanna seem cheap!

It's a tough one.

Out of interest, does anyone else hate Facebook? Like, if there was one website I could delete from existance that would be it and no question.

I joined it about 18 months ago for I-can't-remember-why and haven't logged in since, and then out of the blue a friend from junior school I haven't heard from in 15 years messages me, and I get the email. So I have to log in, I can't ignore that.

It just makes me want to stab myself in the brain. Why on earth is there no option to make the details on my profile private to everyone? Is it that obscure a feature to implement? I don't mind receiving messages from people but is there any reason at all why my friends need to know who all my other friends are and any number of other personal details that I'd rather just keep to myself? Does it have any other function apart from being a breeding ground for nosey [expletive]s? And even if you set the profile so only friends can see it, the lesser of evils, there's other options in other menus that contradict it and imply that everyone can see it.

It's so bloody frustrating.

Despite the likelihood of total retribution from you guys - I quite like it. It's another place I can showcase my live music photos - I use it to get hold of bands I've photographed etc. I think you're making mountains out of molehills - if you don't like it, don't use it, simple as!
