For my friend's bday yesterday, I booked her a piano rehearsal room where you get to play on a proper grand piano. Can't believe I hadn't thought of going to one before. I'm hoping to go once a week after work from now on, as I've caught the bug.
It's a completely different world to playing on my keyboard thing at home, and no worries about maintenance/tuning/annoying the neighbours/etc, and when you press one of the pedals, the entire set of keys shifts to the right. It's so cool, I've completely forgotten about not having bought MvC3 yet.Comment

Awesome Billy. We have a digital piano at home, well it is my wifes. I had no idea you could do something like that, maybe have to look into it.

Even now I don't use it half as much as I should - less than an hour a week - as I have to keep setting it up each time(I've turned it into a bit of a military thing, timing how long it takes to get the stand out, keyboard on top, cover off, pedal/power/headphones plugged in and sheet music stand on, like when people disassemble/reassemble their guns).
I don't really think too much about starting so late as it's just such a nice feeling trying to play a piece instead of just listening to it, no matter how bad it sounds. It's like when I draw random Street Fighter characters(NSFW, despite my having drawn it at work).
Only reason I started was because, thanks to computers, I've been typing on a keyboard almost my whole life so my fingers have had plenty of years to practise pressing keys!

It was one of the smaller rooms but there was about 2m from the rear of the piano until the wall, and probably 1m or so behind the camera. I'd reckon the piano was around 2m long and 1.5m wide so...
4m by 4m? A bit bigger than my bedroom, then.Comment

I've got a cold so I'm staying in my room and installing Ubuntu and then gonna attempt Win2008 R2 in a VM and instead of watching my typical random videos I'm kicking off a TED talks marathon.
Anyone got any suggestions? I'm up for anything, so subject is largely irrelevant(within reason). So far I've seen one about personal robots, a robot stand-up comedian, baby linguistics, and now the Vagina Monologues woman is talking about security.Comment

I got feedback today for the poetry I wrote last semester at uni.
The handwriting is so bad that I have no idea what most of it says. I think I can make out the words "asshat" and "subbuteo."
The self-evaluation that I wrote was described as "a curious document."

Today I am rejigging my CV and firing out some applications until I was rudely interrupted by the Tesco delivery man. I then preceded to duff up my shoulder again lifting all the bags just as I was getting over the pulled muscle from 2-3 weeks ago. Double drat!
