I don't think I've ever heard of any Williams sisters? There's a pair of brothers though that are hard as f*cking nails! Any relation?

Ezee mate, don't take it to heart, the world is a glorious, wonderous place, but everyone has to vent occasionally!

I can honestly say i couldn't have predicted a 5 set thriller between Federer and Roddick.

But all credit to Roddick, he really took the game to Federer mixing his play to the best of his abilities and his game plan was sound throughout the match. An 80% first serve statistic with his serve is nothing short of phenomenal and that is what kept him in the match more than anything else.

Federer i have to say played quite possibly his weakest match of the tournament with some very negative play. He was almost lazy with a lot of his play and just couldn't seem to get his rhythm going, but then a lot of that was down to Roddicks pressure.

I do think in the 5th though when it was 8-8 onwards that Roddick looked the more likely to triumph and it was only in the last 3 games or so that Roddick visibly deteriorated dramatically.

At the end of the day i really didn't think there was any more Roddick could have done to win. Its the best i have ever seen him play in any match but even against a quite mediocre Federer, it just wasn't enough. Even a well below par Federer is still too much for just about everyone with the exception of Nadal.

Had he won the second set he maybe could have gone on to win, but those are the chances you have to take and to lose a tie-break at 6-2 up with his serve and stats is scandalous and will give him nightmares for weeks to come.

I'm happy Federer won to finally bury any argument about who is the best ever but i was surprised at how sorry i felt for Roddick when he lost for the 3rd time as i have to admit he deserved it.

I can't ever see him winning it now at 30 but i hope he does as he would be a very popular champion similar to Goran Ivanisevic e few years ago.

Aye, just remembered that. I thought that when Sue Barker mentioned it. Sponsors will have been behind it but i must admit that i thought it was incredibley big headed of him to wear it straight after the match and very insensitive to Roddick by assuming he would win by having it in his bag in the first place.

He should have left it for the after match interview on his top.

Very good match, for the second year in a row. Brilliant stuff.

Felt very sorry for Roddick - he should have taken the second set whilst he was 6-2 up in the tie-break. I do think whilst Federer looked beatable again, he still had some very impressive numbers - the 50 aces, the number of winners off the baseline.

This alone doesn't definately stop the argument about being the greatest - there will always be his critics, or people who will mention Laver could have won many more.

Oh and Roddick's 26 years old - a year younger than Federer. If he keeps playing like this he definately has another chance of a major.

Yeah he has been getting too arrogant in recent years and that's more proof. Did he even have that suit made before the tournament? I remember how blase he was about getting well past Sampras's record a few years ago when he reached 12. I'm glad he's been made to wait a lot longer (and cry about it along the way) but wish he'd have been delayed still further and made to value it more.

In the women's game as Flabio said the William's aren't as dominant at the other Grand Slams (particularly the French Open) and really Dementieva should have put Serena out in their semi. She had a match point that she really should have taken. If Roddick had just taken 1 of those set points in the 2nd set he would almost certainly have won. It could so easily have been different on both sides.

Felt sorry for Roddick today, he played an outstanding game and looked the better player for much of the match. He used to be quite a one-dimentional player with his serve but he has come along so much in the past year.

A very likeable character too, hope he sticks around for a few more years.

It was touching when he shed a tear. Fact is, he played a near perfect game on his own serve, what more can you do! He was desperately unlucky.

He got broke once in the whole match (I think someone has said this anyway) and it cost him the championship. The fact he was 6-2 up in the second on the tie-break, I think he will be hurting. I don't think Fed-Ex would of came back 2-love down.

I thought Fed was quite humble whilst talking to Barker. I think people need to remember that proffesional athletes are a different breed. They do have a different mentality and a different mind set. (I guess you know this anyway) They work hard to achieve what they get. Anyone with God given talent has to put the work in. Its just a shame it didn't happen for Roddick as he was great.

It was documented over the championship about Roddicks new trainer and Becker said the first thing his trainer said to him was lose 14lbs. Oh well, there is always plenty of tennis on. If if you are causal to the sport, you can get updates on teletext and skysports news.

I agree that Wimbledon is special. Hopefully Nadal will be back fit. Fed is world number 1 for the time being. I think he does deserve it. He is being pushed though, its not all one sided.

Personally, I still think that Federer would struggle against the serving of a prime Pete Sampras on a TRUE fast-playing Centre Court at Wimbledon (let's face it, the Grass Courts of Wimbledon play much slower than they used to 10-20 years ago).

That said, it's still an awesome achievement by Federer to win 15 majors, and you would probably have to give him the title of GOAT now (if major titles are the defining criteria). Roddick's Semi-Final and Final performances at Wimbledon were probably his best since he broke through to win the US Open and claim the World #1 spot back in 2003. Hopefully, this will inspire him to push on and challenge the likes of Federer, Nadal, Murray and Djokovic at the top of the Men's game.

Anyone just watched Federer against Djokovic in US Open Semi?

He's just won in straight sets, and the point he won before match point was an absolutely outrageous between the legs shot.

Made djok look a complete idiot

Murray vs Nadal currently on at the Aussie Open. Break in play due to fireworks at the moment though.

Awesome from Murray. Injury or no, couldn't see Nadal getting back into that.

Agreed. Murray couldn't have executed his gameplan against Nadal any better. Looking really good to make the Final, imho.

It's sad to see Nadal going through this run of injury and bad form. I don't want to write him off in the way so many Fed-lovers have, but you have to be concerned about his knees. Clearly, they are starting to play with his confidence and that in turn is making his game less and less dominant, thus causing this current loss of form. The forthcoming clay-court season will be a real acid-test for Rafa.
