So it's been a time of new arrivals for me recently...Baby last week & yesterday I said goodbye to this...
After 5 years of faultless & fun motoring to say hello to this...
A nice tidy '56 Reg Golf 1.4 Tsi GT (170 Bhp)
It's lovely
Comfortable, smooth, drives like a dream & has more than a touch of the hooligan about for when I feel the need & the little one isn't on boardlol
Got a few plans for some mods but nothing as mental as the Cupra before it...going to be much more of a sensible "Daddy Wagon" lol
Been a long time since I had a new car & it feels strange driving something else but it's nice & I'm enjoying it so far

My brother got a BMW Z4 yesterday, will get a pic up later if I can. I'm also trying to knock down the price of his Clio to have for myself
You can find some mega deals with them on the second hand market & I would heartily recommend getting one.
I actually have some savings by switching to the Golf...car tax is ?80 a year cheaper, insurance has come down & all being well I'll get better mpg out of it thanks to the way it develops the power.
Ooooh what Clio has he got??
I had a Phase 2 172 a few years back & loved it...would get another in a heartbest for a weekend/track toy.

Always liked Golfs (and most VWs), maybe by the time I learn to drive Sciroccos will be going cheap 2nd hand
Yeah was a while back...took me ages to find something I really liked & this finally turned up about a fortnight ago
Sciroccos are lush but too expensive at the mo & 3 door only so no good for me now I have little miss to worry about as well lol

Glad other people rate the Leon. I had a Leon Cupra R as a company car in 2003, absolutely fantastic machine, i had it remapped up to about 265bhp and it went like stink, never gave me a minutes trouble either. Had to give it back 3 years later and had an Astra VXR which was quick but a bit rubbish. Got a Scirocco 2.0 TFSi now which again is a brilliant car, not as quick as the others, although it would be with a remap, but such a sorted car, it seems to go round corners on rails. Unfortunately i've got to give it back in October and have ordered an Alfa Guilietta, not expecting it to be as good as the Scirocco but fancied something abit different.

You taken one out for a run yet?
I'm thinking of a Guilietta for my next Company Car, which I'll be ordering shortly.
I'm Between:
Scirocco
Guilietta
Civic (which doesn't look as cool as the old one, but is like an awesome spaceship inside)
It's really tough, I want something a bit faster than my Golf, but it literally has every gadget under the sun built in, to get any of those cars at the same spec I'd be looking at like ?4000 of extras!
I want to have a look at the new A3 and the New Mercedes A class should be within budget too, I like the look of it, but no doubt the promo shots are some funked up version with far sexier trim than I could get
Company Policy is that I have to get a diesel which limits me somewhat, I might remind my Manager just what his Giant MPV Diesel's Co2 and MPG is , because quite a few petrol car's would do better on both.
I quite like the Beetle too, but they don't do that in Diesel yet either.Last edited by EvilBoris; 11-06-2012, 14:41.

Our company has just changed to Diesel only as well so i have been a bit stumped as what to get. Didn't really want another Scirocco as i love mine and didn't want to change to a diesel version in case i hated it compared to the petrol.
Nothing else really did it for me apart from the Alfa, gone for the 2.0 170bhp Volace TCT, which is an auto with paddle shifts, and i've specc'd it up as much as possible. Took a test drive and was genuinely surprised how good it was, not quite got the poise of the VW but was really very good.
The only other car i thought about was the new BMW 125d M-Sport which was a great car to drive, 220bhp, so was quick, but i don't think i could live with the looks of it. There wasn't much boot space either.Last edited by Jamie; 11-06-2012, 15:52.

Unfortunately my company hasn't upped it's budgets for Cars in recent years, so whilst all my colleagues are driving around in various Big BMWs, Audis and more expensive cars, I'm struggling to find anything as near as fancy for my budget.
Maybe that or Lex Autolease just are ripping us of.
I quite like unusual looking cars (NISSAN PUKE!) and the Alfa is a lovely looking car. Did you order the Satnav if yours? I'm tempted to get something integrated as I keep getting broken into and that might stop that, but I don't want to go for it if it's ****e.
I might end up with the 2.0 170BHP manual or if I can convince them to let me go Petrol the 1.4 TCT is about the same price and has similar performance. Alfa are also swines as they charge you extra for a solid white paint, something which is standard for everyone else.
It's a pain in the arse trying to book test drives as most of the salespeople don't want to know if it's a company car. I've started lying though, that seems to do the trick.
VW let me go for 20 minutes in a Scirroco down a 40MPH dual carriageway where as following my lying techniques Honda allowed me 3 hours to go wherever the **** I wanted!Last edited by EvilBoris; 11-06-2012, 15:57.

Yeah i got the integrated sat nav rather than the docking port for TomToms. It looks a lot neater and alot of the media functions integrate into the screen. Got the black leather seats as well which are lovely, plus the Bose system, upgraded the alloys to the 5 pot 18 inch and Brembo brakes.
I wanted the 8c paint but at ?1500 extra i couldn't bring myself to pay it, so i went for the metallic Alfa red which is a nice compromise.
I had the same problem with test drives. We're with Lex as well and they used to arrange test drives for you but have stopped all that and i now get calls froms various car garages cause i had test drives with them.Last edited by Jamie; 11-06-2012, 16:02.
