Grr, i hate cars sometimes. Currently sitting waiting for the AA to turn up as my engine is overheating again on my crappy old citroen ax. Thought it was the split radiator top hose that was the problem, so replaced that, but its still boiling over withing minutes.

      Rant over.

What are peoples thoughts on Alloys?
I bought a nice metallic blue Mazda 6 Sport a couple of months back and it's a really nice car apart from the Alloy wheels are badly corroded.

        I don't know whether i should:-

        1. Refurb them which will cost around £50 per wheel but will mean i'll be car-less for a couple of days (and i'm not entirely sure if they can be done as they are in pretty bad nick).

        2. Buy some official Mazda ones.

        3. Try some swanky looking after market ones. Not sure of what colour to go for though.

Anyone pointers i should look for if i was to go for option 3?

Don't buy direct from Mazda for a start unless you enjoy paying well over the odds. If I was you I'd check out some of the "un-official" alloys to see if anyone them will suit your car. I'm sure you'll find quite a few that you'll like.

Re-furb or after-market for sure. No idea what ones would look right though.

On a side note, let me know what the 6 Sport is like? I've been thinking about one recently, good car?

Would say refurb, would make it easier to sell the car on, if it's all "original" etc.

Think some of the swanky online car mod store sites let you enter your car model and it'll show you what various alloys would look like on your car. If not, there's a gap in the market there!

Well i've gone from a 12 year old Honda Accord so my judgment is somewhat limited, but yes it's a very nice car.
The sport comes with alot of extras fitted as standard and it handles really nicely.

I have driven the new Mazda 6 and it's a lovely car. Really impressive.

Saw some boys driving their toys back from Le Mans yesterday - I was returning from a campsite.... Some nice kit. Not that I'd ever buy any of it due to impracticality (that's what motorbikes are for). But my 2 year old was suitably impressed by the noise.

Caterhams, lambos, ferraris, lotus, audi thingy. Lots of pistonheads stickers.

I've been thinking about doing the Le Mans thing for a couple of years but never have time off to suit. Looks like I'll be off this time next year though so I think I'll be chucking a tent and a mate in the Boxster and heading down.
From what I can gather the campsite is chock full of Brits every year anyway and I'm beginning to wonder how much of the race most peeps actually see!
Need to do some more research into all this.

That. Is. Fantastic. i hope you didn't drink all of them yourself.

Did you have a good time? I wan to go one year as well. See much racing or was it more for the party/festival atmosphere?

I've looked in to going to LeMans a couple of times also, prices seem quite high and you have to book really early for decent camping and stuff. Still it would be worth it for the experience I'm sure.

Yeah, book now for next year. It's ace fun as long as you are with other like minded people.

Unfortunately we didn't finish the beer mountain because some fool tripped over it in a drunken stupor....

20 of us helped to push start a mobile home lol.... They gave us all their remaining beer.

We saw loads of racing. Remember to stand at Porsche curves at sundown with a bottle of wine. Lovely.

Track invasion at the end is fun. And pit walks during practice. Don't just go for the race. Go for 4 days See the village driver parade.

Egg people on outside bars to do burnouts (lots of people fit line locks to their 7s )
