A white car? Do you have a valet? Still, more fun the silver.

I've just replace my good old Mk.5 Escort with a Fiat Brava 1.2.

I wanted something a bit newer and something that didn't drink soo much.

I was looking round and stumble on it, Only £900, which is pretty good as it's completly mint condition. Not a speck of rust anywhere and the smoothest gear box I've ever used, plus it only has 56k on the clock. Looking online for what I got I could of spent £2000 easy on one so mint.

I'm very happy so far, runs really smooth, quite (somthing my escort wasn't) and I'm going to save loads on fuel as I got 120 miles out of just over quater of a tank, so about £15, that would of got me about 50 miles at most in my old car and I've been driving the same as ever (meaning the throttle is on or off).

A man after my own heart!

I'm experimenting at the moment to see what I can get from mine if I drive sensibly (Like, REALLY sensibly). I could squeeze about 34 from my Clio, don't think I'm going to get much more than 30 out of this one.

I used to have a 1.2 Clio and managed to get about 32 out of it on a run.

I can see this car doing 300-350 miles driving sensibly with only a 45L tank, not bad at all for a 2001 car.

Real shame I had a bit of a bump with that one, great little motor, never had a single issue with it. I got it off my dad who had it from new for about 5 years before I had it, I put it through 3 MOT's and it sailed through all of them.

Lets just say a blowout (of a brand new tyre with 5 miles on it), heavy rain, a sharp corner and a cement block about 12" high in a bush arn't really the best combination.

I've had leather seats in my my last two cars, spanning about seven years of ownership, so I fancied a change and didn't want leather enough again to spend ?705 on it. Also, another reason I went for cloth is because it was black and matched the exterior I chose. When I ordered it the interior was plum and the leather seats were plum to match it. I didn't mind the plum colour though. As it got closer to arriving I was thankfully informed I got the updated interior (MY11 iQ - new colours and trim revisions), and the new black and grey interior comes with black leather seats if you choose the leather option, but I still didn't fancy it.

It's quicker than I expected and will take a while for the engine to break in and get up to its optimum fuel efficiency, but over a year it will save me at least ?1,000 compared to what the Lexus was costing to run, tax, MOT, and insure.

Despite its price, people's opinions and my own doubts during the nine week wait, I'm very happy with my decision and Fish Bros. Toyota Swindon's service was superb and made my first, and possibly only, new car experience a brilliant one.

I could get 34 out of my RS Clio 197 (At the absolute best, averaged around 29 more realistically). How on earth did you get the consumption that low on a standard 1.2?

**** day today, it's going to test my resolve to keep driving sensibly.

As much as I enjoyed my Lexus GS430 Sport, I don't miss the 18 MPG around town.

I got 29mpg out of my last tank in the Impreza. I almost fell over.... It was all motorway miles at 70mph though, so turbo isn't even spinning. I'm still getting 24/25 normally on the school run.

Around the back roads in the Alfa I get around 20 to 22 mpg.

Nutters. I get about 37-39, even over 40 from my 3 litre CLS, even in sport mode!

I get a good 35-37mpg out of my Audi (2.0T petrol) which I'm happy with. Used to get 30-32 out of the 3.0 M Sport.

I think, with realistic driving, the best I can expect from this is around 26.

Is it bad that I don't know the mpg of any car i've owned? I only own them for fun, not needed for work, so only stick petrol in when I want to play.............
