Thoughts on BBC coverage?
I love that they've thrown themselves into the games, tonnes of coverage and for the most part the presenters have done their homework. The swimming coverage has been great and getting Thorpe was a good move; funny and knowledgeable and surprisingly camp!

Their cycling coverage yesterday was poor, I know they have to switch channels from time to time but they should make sure the second channel is ready and showing the broadcast before pulling the plug. Yesterday they missed a vital run by Australia while I sat in horror watching some bargain hunt or some ****!
Their claims you can watch any event live is clearly not true- red button gives me three options...am I missing something?

I can watch any event, yeah. There's a sectioned A-Z and it shows you each event, the window of broadcast, and a vertical line denotes the current time. I'm watching on a skybox.

On freeview I only get 3. On freesat (from sky) I get all of them - you choose a sport from the A-Z list - the timeline next to it is lit in blue if it's on.

Sign up for a cheap sky package for a year and then cancel if you don't want to continue - you keep the HD box.

Or watch any channel online.

They're showing events 8+ hours after they happen with no TV opportunity to watch them live, as they want all the events to air in prime-time for ratings and commercial money.

They're also announcing results casually in promos for the olympics as well before the games air in the USA. It's a joke. Sadly, they're getting record ratings by doing this, so it's only going to continue.

BBC having all the HD channels they have is brilliant. With my TIVo box I'm actually able to record 3 events at a time that I can catch up with when I get home from work.


I have to say too, the USA team have been doing phenomenally well today during the swimming. Feeling extremely patriotic today.

Channel 9 here has been bloody awful. Basically 90% of coverage going to every swimming event and little else. ****ing disgraceful how they're slating the Aussie competitors for coming 2nd-3rd and not grabbing gold.

Foxtel here are showing it all in HD with 8 channels but the crux is you need to make a one off $50 payment. Ouch. I'm not willing to do that.
