A man ordered a length of rope by telephone, but when he went to collect it he found that the assistant had mistaken the feet for inches. As a result, the rope was only 30&#37; as long as he'd wanted. What length of rope did he order?

I assume you mean he swapped around the feet and inches in a measurement in both (ie 2' 1" becoming 1' 2") rather than 3' becoming 3" because I'm sure the latter is impossible.

Also, just to check, you do meant 3/10 not 1/3 don't you?

I thought that it means if the guy ordered, for example, a 12 foot rope, then the assistant only gave him 12 inches of rope. Therefore he only got 1 foot of rope, when he wanted 12 foot.
