I think I've mentioned my injuries on here b4 so I wont go into detail.
Noseslide flip outs! u got my respect man!Nearest I got is tailslide flip out or 270 shove out.
Good stuff mate. Damn I wanna go skating now. Didnt help that I watched Birdhouse 'The Beginning' & Lakai 'Fully Flared last night, then played Skate2!!

not seen the new birdhouse vid but fully flared is ace. so is mindfeild.
It is funny when you do loads of oldskool teh tricks that no one really does any more. some of them are class and they blow the nippers minds when you do them. caspers and nollie caspers are good for a laugh and stuff like late shuvs and late flips are also crowd pleasers!
It's great when you get into a game of skate and wheel out the big guns. ollie to nose pivot shuvits I'm looking at you.
I did a hilarious trick the other day. i'd been dreaming it up all day at work and it took me about 30 tries to land: 360 shuv while you turn 180 the other way, then you land and pivot back round 180. I named it the 'unicorn flip' its not even a flip so the misleading name only adds to its mistique!
hey tommy, just incase you care, I noticed that routone.com have some well mint deals on decks at the moment. 2 for £70 on graphic decks. I got myself an antihero stranger deck a 5boro deck the other day. proper credit crunchtastic. I remember regularly paying £55 - £60 for decks back in the day.Last edited by boxhead; 03-07-2009, 14:56.

I've ordered loads of stuff off Routeone's sale. Got some Santa Cruz decks on the 2 for £69 offer, Emerica Francis Lows for £20, Accel TT's for £20, Indy Stage 10 Lows for £40 & a load of DVD's for a fiver each (Birdhouse The Beginning was 1 of them & classic H-Street Shackle Me Not & Plan B SHS). I'm well topped up for everything now for at least a yr or so, but I'm skintos now too!!
Thats a crazy trick you've got dialled there. I dont think I could get my head around 360 shove then turning opposite, then reverting it. Closest I came to inventing a trick was half flips (flip deck half way, then push it back the opposite way while still airborne). Sorta like a half flip casper in the air but I did it way b4 Mullen took it to the next level. Some kid from a city nearby saw me doing them & so I showed him how to, then he went back to his city & claimed he invented it. Bast!!
Some kid asked me for a game of SKATE with him last yr. I always try & avoid them so I dont feel like a dick when I fail against the younger tech wizards, but I thought what the hell I'll do it for a laugh. The kid was 15 & could do tre's, hardflips, switch flips/heels, nollie inward heels etc, so technically a better rider than me. I hammered him into the ground when pulled out my no comply's, pressure flips, impossibles, nollie tre's.
It felt good, but at the same time a bit sad to beat a 15 yr old at SKATE ha ha!!

****, this is making me want to buy a board again and I can barely skate.

People are trying tricks on them. Looks pretty brave if you ask me - these things seem pretty big (which is good for me cos my feet are size 12 skate shoes).
I'm trying to ollie it, but can't get my brain to shove the front foot up properly at the right time (note I've not tried a skateboard before ever) so end up just looking like a tool. Lucky there's never anyone in my road to actually view my efforts.

Sorry for not replying to your PM charles mate. And I saw those boards about 10 yrs ago on some prog on CITV. They look pretty fun actually but I cant see it getting big tbh. U cant grind on those things & 1 of the best feelings ever is scraping those metal axles on a bit of concrete/marble/metal!
Like I said tho it looks like a good laugh & I'd rather have a bash on 1 than on a space board or whatever their called. Those things are death traps & pretty useless.
And if youre gonna try ollies then get yourself a regular 4 wheeled skateboard. It'll be more stable & shorter too. Go to: www.routeone.co.uk & u could get a good complete setup for about £65 delivered.
..............Or u could go to Argos

I've tried to find the vids on youtube but no luck I'm afraid. They were there last yr but seem to have vanished, sorry guys.
He really defined fun on a skateboard, & used to dress upas a clown a lot of the time & make some really weird boards. He even took a full size skimboard, slapped on a set of trucks & could double flip it & tre flip it over a hip in a skatepark.......while wearing a wet suit!! He made a board out of a bowling ball while dressed in bowling attire, he put trucks on both sides of a regular deck so u could half flip it & land either side. He managed to do a 'Randy Roads', which was a tre 1 & a half flip, while dressed as a rocker!!
And way b4 dirtboards were invented he managed to attach some huge treaded wheels to a regular deck & tre flipped on that too!!
He was a legend who had some mad skills too & was truly ahead of his time.
He gave up skating about 10 yrs ago & devoted his life to God. Theres a vid on youtube of him preaching. I'm not a hater, but I do miss his skating even to this day because he didnt give a ****e what other ppl thought of him

I never really was a fan of Simon Woodstock (or the Ged Wells/Dan Cates style of 'wacky'- always seemed a bit contrived to me). That said, like him or not you've got to admire his determination to do his own thing and stick his fingers up at the skateboard 'establishment'. Modern skateboarding/skateboarders are far too concerned about proving their authenticity and 'roots'-ness, when half of them would jump at mega sponsorships and x-games type bollocks, if given the opportunity. That, and the fact that it seemingly became more about what clothes you're wearing and listing how many tricks you can do than actual skating, are what irks me about skating these days. Moan, moan, I know.
Anyhoo, on the maverick tip, have a look at this bloke who's resolutely doing his own thing and has been for yonks, not giving two hoots what the industry thinks...

Yeah - Kirk, Woodstock, Shawn Mandoli, Gator (but because he killed someone) all gave up the plank to preach the word.
I think Sumner is alright tho, but he's now got a sort of scouser/american accent which sounds really funny!!. He's on a Co called Reliance now, which is a CHristian based skate Co but they have a sh1t hot team, inc Josh Kasper!! (remember him?!).
Check them out at: http://www.relianceskate.com/
Salman Agah is also fully Christianed up too, but its good to see they still skate. I think Salman is part of some christian skate group that gets together with kids which is pretty good imo.
Speaking of selling out, I guess you've heard that Koston has jumped ship to Nike? Thats really disappointed me because he said in an interview in 2007 that he'd never join a mainstream brand Co outside of skating. I guess money talks. I've lost a little of the love I had for that guy.
I wouldnt say SW was Dan Cates style. Dan is just a dick & there must be something seriously wrong with him for squatting, ****ting in his hand & rubbing it in his own face. Ged Wells had some amazing cartoon art on his decks.
I loved SW for his individuality & creativeness, but hated his Sex, Drugs & Rock n Roll pursuits outside of skating (this got too much & he then had a 'moment of clarity' & found God).
Some of his skating skills from back in the day could be considered where Barletta & Haslam have got some of their ideas today.Last edited by EDDIE M0NS00N; 11-08-2009, 14:10.

Why no Islamic skateboarding groups?
I hate it how people have to tag the 'Christian' part onto what they do, it's like they're making some kind of "We couldn't be this ****ing **** hot without Jesus backing us up, yo." statement.
It's too bad Christians don't make porn, or produce class As.

Originally posted by kernow View PostWoodstock was indeed fun to watch. It was only about 3 months ago I watched a few skating vids I used to worship when I was young, streets on fire being one, Natas Kaupas was a legend, but the tricks just look soooo oldschool now.
My 2nd ever deck was an SMA - a Jim Thiebaud with a Joker rip off pic on it. I've still got it in the house somewhere.
After leaving SMA he started up 101, then sold it to produce a porn mag, then signed up with Element (they had the best team around back then), then when Elements decks went **** he left & started Designarium which make Ltd Edition art decks made by artists so they can make some cash.
