This'll make it look like a virgin iphone.
Simply restoring it via iTunes with original software restores it to its original state anyway, ive tried it.

Was just wondering where i stood as O2 could probably easily discover that ive not used an O2 sim in it since ive had it?

Unless i get an O2 PAYG simcard and send a few texts? think ill get away with it sending it back for repair doing this?

You could always just send it direct to apple?

Anybody know whether or not the iPhone now works with Windows Vista?

Recently got a new desktop with Vista Home Premium on it. Haven't yet migrated all my iPhone data but considering it.

Haven't they always worked with Vista? I've never had a problem...

Or do you mean Vista 64bit? (I use 32bit)

Perhaps. I've just heard mixed reports about iPhones not working on Vista. Not sure about the version though, so it may well be that.

What version of Vista are you using?

I'm using the normal 32bit version and it works fine.

My mate uses 64bit Vista with his iPhone. I'll double check with him and let you know.

                  Thanks, guys.

My version of Vista Home Premium is 32-Bit, so using iPhone 3G on it shouldn't be a problem. I guess it's more the hassle that's going to come with making sure that my iPhone will allow me to use it on another PC as well as other things like re-obtaining my contacts, etc.

If anyone's interested the Japanese app is free for New Year's Day, down from £11.99. It's a big Japanese dictionary that lets you look up kanji by all sorts of criteria and if you enable the Simplified Chinese keyboard you can draw them in and find them that way. Pretty cool if you're learning Japanese or your kanji isn't brilliant.

For those who don't already know, it appears that iPhone owners are now able to browse the iTunes Store and download tracks from over a 3G/EDGE connection via their iPhones. Personally, I haven't downloaded anything, but I have been able to browse the Store on a 3G/EDGE connection over my iPhone, whereas before I used to get the message telling me that I could only download Podcasts.

That said, the "No more than 10MB Audio/Video over 3G" rule still applies - anything more needs Wi-Fi or desktop iTunes.

You can yes, it was a new "feature" announcement at the Apple Event on Tuesday.

Yeah, it's a nice feature to have, especially now that it's all going to be iTunes Plus so I'll be much more likely to use it to buy albums. I've got a few iTunes Plus songs of average length that are over 10MB, though, so I wonder how it'll handle those if you try to buy them over 3G.

The thing that gets me is that apparently the reason why you couldn't download from iTunes over the cellular network is that record companies wanted more money from Apple to grant the right for us to do that, since it's supposedly a new medium and another potential revenue stream. Blinded by the idiots who'll spend ?3 to download a ringtone from their phone network, methinks

In other news, the Facebook app has finally been updated to fix that bug where it would show the wrong times in certain time zones. I was getting a bit sick of it telling me that a status update from a few seconds ago was posted 20-odd hours ago.

I would hazard a guess and say that it'll just tell you to either find a Wi-Fi hotspot or download the song from desktop iTunes, like it always does for podcasts.

The Facebook app update was LONG overdue - stability was desperately needed. The most annoying bug was easily the one which caused the screen to gradually go blank when you scrolled up or down it. I for one am relieved to see that it has been fixed and made more stable.

Got myself a 3G model yesterday and retired my well loved 2G one.
The biggest improvement is definately the speakers, which are far louder.
Also Having a signal at home and at work is certainly worthwhile!

Can anyone recommend a decent pool game for my itouch...?

Saw a dude playing a 3d one on the tube this morning and fancied a bit of that. Had a look round but can't seem to track it down.

For a vague description it had blue cloth on the tables (on the game he was playing) and what looked like 4 'buttons' on the bottom left of thr screen. Not much help I know. I don't think it was Sim pool but could be wrong.

                                Any suggestions ppl...?
