Yeah, seems fairly standard. I should take this opportunity to point out that I've never even managed to apply a screen protector to a DS/PSP at what I would consider an acceptable level, so this is probably going to end with me having wasted £20.

I'm looking for a clear case for my iPhone that isn't really bulky. I've come to the conclusion that no such thing exists
Why not just get a nice suede pouch/sock? thats what i use. Its protected when in your pocket, and when you're using it you won't have a big bulky think in your hand

re. screen protectors, I have only every used Martin Fields protectors on my phones, have one on each of my 3 DS's and one on my PSP.. the only one that didn't go on immaculately was the psp one, had one spec of dust under it but wasn't that noticble and didn't fancy taking it off and making it worse... seller on ebay oman666 is where i've bought every one from.. had about 10 over the years from this shop

i've gone for the Sena Ultra Slim Napa Leather Pouch in the end, can't go back to having a big ass silicone case or whatever bulking up the iPhone...

I'll give my thoughts on it when it comes.. but from what i've read it a winner

You really, really don't need any of this crap. You all realize that, yes? I've had an iPhone for over a year with no case or screen protector and it's fine. It's a phone, people, seriously.

Conversley, I've had an iPod classic for over a year and it's scratched to bollocks, can't even tell the back is supposed to be silver.

You clearly haven't seen the state that most of my phones end up in.

quoted for truth, unless you walk about with a pocket full of gravel you really are being a bit of a spaz sticking some crappy sticky back plastic type rubbish over it.

The iPhone is a totally different device to the iPod classic, it's much more resistant to wear and tear. The glass used for the screen can have keys bashing it against it all day and emerge totally unblemished. I guess it's coated with something. The back scratches only very lightly also. £20 for a bit of plastic to put over the screen is just a colossal rip off.

Y'know, fair play, but I've just spent £200+ on this iPhone and I'm buggered if I'm going to risk it for the sake of a £10 case to put it in!

I walk for 4 hours a day, every day...all sorts in my pocket...I'm not willing to risk it since I've never bought a case for a phone before and every phone I've ever owned has looked like **** after a month or two.

Sorry but unless it's made of magic, it's gonna scratch at some point.

The screen is very durable but glass can still scratch so if you don't want to end up with an annoying scratch right across the space your input your texts or something , so it ain't gonna do any harm.

I guess it depends on the owner really

First thing I done was put a screen protector on it and a rubbery case thing. 5 months on it's still in mint condition. I'd hate if it was all scratched to buggery after the countless times I've dropped it outside.

Rossco nails it for me, I am going to drop this occasionally and it will come into contact with scratchy things now and again, why on earth anyone would risk it given the prices Apple charge for fixing these things is beyond me.

On a different subject, I remember reading in one of these threads about the method of creating a ringtone from an MP3...but it requiring a MAC to do so!

Would anyone on here be kind enough to do that for me if I sent a few MP3s their way?

Jebus, i've used this method to make a ringtone from an mp3 on my pc. Easy peasy: http://www.labnol.org/software/make-...e-itunes/4738/

Don't bother with a screen protector though, they make it look sh1t and worse than any scratches will. I've had a couple of iphones now (upgraded from the original to 3g) and neither of them have looked worse than my sister's with a screen protector on it with a few scratches. Who cares if it looks mint underneath?

The phone might be better protected with a case and a screen protector, but it'll look ****ter, be bulkier and more cumbersome to use. And all to protect against some thing that might never happen.

I can understand wanting to mitigate against the risk of something bad happening to an expensive piece of kit, but when that mitigation compromises the kit, it's not worth it.

Imo it's the equivalent those horrible plastic sofa covers that were popular in the seventies:

I don't protect my iphone and it's still fine after 18 months. If it does get damaged, well, that's life. I've dropped it a number of times, taken it to festivals, lost it in the floor of the car for a few days, although I don't put it in my pocket with change or keys. That just daft.
