Well, due to new management coming in (after our previous manager was hospitalised due to a breakdown caused by pressure from higher up the line) & ripping apart everything that was left that was good here, I've decided to join USDAW today.

I can see the iceberg on the horizon, so I'm just making sure I dont get screwed any further by this company.

This country thinks that due to the current economical climate that they can force ppl to do anything that they want by waving the 'sacked' sign in their face

new sky+ box in, looks like it's hardly been used and works just fine, can't hear the hdd making all the whirring and clicking either, the old one's been doing that for as long as i can remember, guess it's been on it's last legs for a while, sky anytime isn't working though, was looking forward to catching up on some programs i missed, mad dogs in particular.

They shafted me & a collegue last yr with unpaid overtime, which they managed to do because they changed the rules regarding our dinner breaks (was 1 hr unpaid or 1/2 hr paid). We chose 1/2 paid, then 2 months later they told us that it was wrong, & so we lost about ?240 in money.

Lately its been more about forcing us to work shifts when its convenient for them, inc weekends, with a warning/threat of 'if you're not seen as being flexible then the company will wonder why we're keeping you on'. Plus the fact that despite their promise to get ppl to help us out (due to them not employing a replacement on our dept) we only seem to get this help for about 30 mins, then those ppl pi55 off somewhere never to be seen again, leaving us just as short as we were b4.

The decision not to go in on sunday for a meeting seems to have gone down badly, as the manager now seems to think that we all conspired not to turn up on purpose, as if we were saying a big "f*ck you!", which is rubbish. We just have lives outside of work thats all.
