On my way home today some wierdo came out of Yates shouting 'there he is'

He came over to me and said he hadn't seen me for ages and asked if I remembered the party we both went too. I have never seen this guy in my life. He was waving his hands around a fair bit chatting **** so I was in counter attack mode.

He tried to hug me and I said 'I dont know you man' then I carried on about my business, keeping him well in my 180 view.

3. Assuming he was the one who sent the guy tell him you're informing the police and any further incidents will be followed up in full.

4. If he's not the one go back to the heavy and tell him about point 1 and 2, do the same as 3.

This is absolutely spot on.

I was mugged a year or so back, wel, attempted mugged, and the guy literally just flung his fist towards my face without any warning whatever... Luckily i'm not a small chap and i know how to handle myself so it was he who ended up with a broken nose not me... But still, the point is he gave no warning, no threats, nothing at all...

Most of the dickheads on the streets are cowards, pathetic bullies, who get their kicks from scaring people. They have all the gob yet when it actually comes to it have no weight to throw around.

As much as i would love to say go to the police, I think we all know the police won't give a damn nor will entertain the idea...

Living in lanarkshire has its hazards - the best I can offer which backs up AS post is that one night I was walking home and some chav asked if I had a light - to which I replied I dont smoke and the next min the guy lunged at my face with a knife.

Gut instincts kicked in and I raised my left hand to my face and the knife cut my tendon and nerves in my left hand.

No warning and for no reason at all.

"Yes this can be reported, it wouldn't be a waste of police time. There might be CCTV at the shop and he might be wanted in connection with other offences anyway if he's a bit of a thug. It's just good to make officers aware of it in case it does become more serious or in case he's threatening other people. I would say he has committed an offence of intentional harassment. It probably wouldn't go to court but it's important in terms of intelligence gathering to keep a record of what he is doing. If he does it again he could then be given an official harassment warning as only 2 incidents are needed."

Seriously, if you felt upset enough to post on the internet, you should have gone to the police.

I can't believe some of the posts that pop up on forums sometimes! Asking advice from people on here...are any of them lawyers, policemen, community officers?

You don't get why I posted this here, similarly, I don't get why you posted in this thread twice saying the same thing. What is your point exactly?

And no, the denizens of this forum may not be lawyers and such, but may have had similar experiences. As it turns out, many have, and their comments have been quite helpful. Certainly more so than your unnecessary bleating from the cheap seats.

Anyway, I've decided to speak directly to the person who set this idiot up to it in the first place and will inform them that if said guy so much as even looks at me again I will report the person who sent him to the police. (From what I know of the guy responsible, this will be enough to **** him up.)

I've also had a word with some other people I know who, as it happens know the guy who approached me, so I don't think I'll be hearing from him again...

I also agree with this, i was mugged twice in the past and both times without warning. I like to keep my nose down and stay out of trouble best i can. 8 years on i'm still a little freaked out about going out at night alone and try to avoid it where possible. I do crazy little things like lock my car doors when driving about, things i wouldn't do if the two events hadn't taken place.

It's great when people comment about kicking the **** out of someone when placed in that kind of situation, it's easy to say unless you've been there yourself.

As for the police, i rang them the first time, i was stood in the middle of the street waiting after it happened terrified until after an hour i rang someone to pick me up. It took 4 hours before they showed up at my house.
