    Very true.

All the major famous soft-drinks in the US taste massively different to what we're used to over here for that very reason. Is HFCS banned in the EU?

US Sprite is almost unrecognisable to a UK taste pallet, for example. Better tasting, though.

Ug Root Beer is like drinking a Hospital....horrible.

Do they still make Lilt Mango & Mandarin? That's my choice for number 1 summer drink!

America grows much more corn than we do and it's heavily subsidised. It's simply much cheaper for US to use it. It's pretty bad for you though and european food and drinks companies are more reluctant to use heavily processed ingredients

I remember some idiot reckoning he could blow bubbles with it. But apart from that it tasted alright.

My favourite soft drink ever has to be Fentiman's Curiosity Cola, or the KA variety Black Grape. Both of them do horrible things to your teeth.

Sainsburys have this in stock now. "Treated" mysef to a bottle and it's disgusting! Tastes like caffine with a hint of lime.

Got some of this today on the basis of this thread. Tasted just like lemonade/Sprite/7-Up to me but it was quite sickly towards the end. Don't think I'll be getting any more. Diet Irn Bru is the future.

Slightly off-topic, but I've just polished off my 9th can (this week! ) of a 12-can pack of US Coca-Cola Vanilla.

Awesome, awesome drink. I lament the day that Coca-Cola UK pulled it from UK shops and stores.

It tastes nicer out of a can, but I wouldn't really agree with your description either.

Oh dear. Finally tried a bottle and it's utterly piss poor. Nothing like american Dew in the slightest. It's like cheap pop-man Alpine limeade that's been rebranded ... certainly not worthy of the Mountain Dew label

Had a can of US Dew for the first time yesterday. Not bad at all. Definitely better than the UK Dew that I remember drinking back in the day as a teenager. Purchased two more Cans from CyberCandy in Covent Garden. The HFCS and Caffeine combo in US Dew obviously isn't good for you, but I can see how it would be addictive, especially with the orange-ish flavour.

Will have to do until they have Coca-Cola Vanilla back in stock, which is a better drink in my opinion...oh, wait...that has HFCS & Caffeine in it as well...!

I actually had some MD Throwback when in the US, as it actually uses sugar. Just need to find some here now to compare tastes...

I did drink MD when it was available back in the 90s... never understood why it disappeared.

Boylan Creme Soda or nothing- nobody sells it here. Was polishing off two bottles of that stuff before breakfast every day in New York. Wonderful stuff.

                                Except the ensuing diabetes, obviously.
