For me, anything with the Nac Mac Feegles in it has me snorting out loud! But they are all classics!

I love me some Ankh Morpork watch so I'd recommend starting with Guards Guards.

I'll also vote for Going Postal and I'll also suggest The Truth.

Mort is my favourite but they're all good.

Tbh if you can get them get the audiobooks. Tony Robinson reads them and they are ace!

Fifth Elephant is worth another vote from me.

Well I read Going Postal, which was excellent. Very funny and quite clever in places. Then I read Making Money, which was also really good but didn't quite have the driving force of Going Postal, though I did love Gladys. And then I read one called Interesting Times, about Rincewind in what seemed to be the Discworld equivalent of China. That wasn't great to be honest.

                So, what's up next?

Thinking Fifth Elephant or the Thief of Time one.

Do you use the library for your books or do you buy them? Depending on cost, if you like, you can have my Fifth Elephant as I won't read it again. All depends on P+P really but I can throw Carpe Jugulum in there too.

Wow, really kind offer! I've been going Kindle though - hooked on instant gratification. But thank you - this is why I love this board. See? That's community spirit right there.

No worries bud Was just clearing out my room today and noticed the bookshelf was a little overflowing so could do with losing a few. Not sure it would have worked anyway with you living where you do lol. That offer is open to anyone who is interested btw...I may actually pop a post on the "It's for free" thread with the others I have decided to let go.

How are you finding the Kindle? We thought about getting one for our Mum (the ?89 one) for Xmas but for some reason didn't go with it in the end...mainly because Mum uses the library I guess.

                        Mostly in my own head...

I'm loving the Kindle. It doesn't really do anything a book doesn't do and yet I find myself reading more with it. Maybe it's just the handiness? It's as easy on the eyes as a book, which is great - not like staring at a computer monitor.

That one is the most recent Discworld book I've read, to be honest. All the way back my distant past, early secondary school days...

Couple of months ago my girlfriend found a dozen Discworld paperbacks at work. A former employee had owned the books and left them behind when he'd resigned. My g.f. kept them and read them all. When she was reading one of the books in a cafe, I idly flicked through the other she had in her bag. Noticed an iconic signature which she hadn't noticed before. Turns out most of the inherited paperbacks were signed by Terry Pratchett himself!

Terry Pratchett once joked that he signs so many books, unsigned ones might be worth more!
I got him to sign a birthday card for my mum when I met him in 1997

You can't go wrong with any in the series tbh Anything with the Guards, Death or Lipwig are my faves. Oh, and Vetinari. Monstrous Regiment was good.

I'm just about to start Snuff - has anyone read that yet?
