    Eyepieces yes , my bad

    Comment

Glad you managed to get some use out of it already. It's been so cloudy this winter I've almost forgotten what stars look like! In the summer I was really looking forward to the early darkness winter would bring, but I could probably use the fingers on my hands to count the number of times it's been clear enough to go stargazing.

Good idea to put off upgrading eyepieces and so on until you're much more used to the scope. As soon as you buy one thing you'll notice something else that you definitely definitely need and it can quickly snowball, as my bank balance can testify! Best to put that off for a while

        Had some fun tonight
I managed to find the Orion Nebula nice clouds with lots of stars, and Andromeda galaxy, a smudge with a slightly brighter middle bit tonight,
even with light pollution they looked great

I really want to see saturn but i dont think its very high in the sky right now and only early morning ?

Get Sky Safari basic it costs 1.99 and is well worth the money, will tell you all rise and set times of any object you search, plus theres a description tab which gives you info on the object distant how it was formed, lots of information, its a fantastic app.

SkEye is a good app to, and has pushto tech which would be useful to your scope, just align a few stars then push the scope to the required RA & Dec.

Yup, you'll need to be an early riser to catch Saturn at this time of year. Had a quick look in Stellarium and right now it rises at roughly 2AM and reaches its highest point at 4:30-6:30AM and then you'll start losing it to the light. You're looking at April/May before it's reasonably high in the sky during the late evening. You'll be blow away when you do see it though, it's still probably my favourite astronomical object.

If you enjoyed Andromeda you should check out Bode's Nebula: two galaxies (M81 and M82) quite close to each other. They're roughly diagonally up and to the left of the star at the top of the plough (Dubhe). A bit harder to find and see than Andromeda.

The Pleiades (M45) is also a lovely thing to look at, and easy to find as it's right next to Jupiter. A little cluster of bright stars that you can just make out with the naked eye, and they look brilliant through binoculars or a telescope.

In fact, going through all the Messier Objects is a great way to see a good variety of objects and learn the sky. I'm always meaning to make a list and tick them all off but I haven't managed to get around to it yet! And you've got a head start as Andromeda and the Orion Nebular are both on the list

I am getting used you it more , and learning how to nudge the scope in focus learnt where to find a few things , still waiting on some beginners books ive ordered , the weather has been bad tho always cloudy I have only had about 2 hours use in 1 week of trying every night , I have not found any other objects , the sky always looks blue not black , it's been hazy and the moonlight has been really bright , I need to make some type of check list or log I would live to see as many if the messys as possible .

I do like the scope and stargazing if great fun and very rewarding when you get it right , so much to learn

Great pics! Shows what you can do without specialised equipment.

I haven't taken an astrophoto for AGES. Owning a telescope will really make you hate clouds! If there was a BNP style party with an anti-cloud agenda, I'd vote for them
