    Android phones recommendation

As per thread title implies, I'm looking for a decent but not too expensive Android phone. I've browsed the net a bit but ended up in being more confused than before.
I'm aiming at something in the 200-250€ price range, favoring battery life over anything (I'm coming from a 6 or more years old phone so colour screens are already something huge).
    What does the forum suggest?

I don't know as much as most who follow the phone market(s) but I think a lot of people are waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S3 (is that the new one?), but it would probably cost a bit more, perhaps. HTC have a new range out with three or so models at varying pricepoints. Also, the Android Nexus models are Google's 'flagship' Android models and usually have the latest firware revision running straight from the box and people like that a lot. Although more people install a custom rom anyway. What I would like to know is if there are any security risks involved with rooting a device. I hate the phone market, too many products released too often.

Nexus S is a spanky phone, had it since September with updates from 2.3->2.3.3->4.0.4
      Absolutely loving Ice Cream Sandwich.

Battery life depends on what you install and run, live wallpapers will drain it much faster for example.

Nexus S surely looks nice but it's about twice what I want to pay.

Not android but have you seen the Nokia lumia (w7.5) I played with one for the first time the other day and they are bloody lovely, If i was going android I would get a note but I think thy are very expensive, could always go for an excellent quality second hand galaxy s2

Still sold above 300€ and not interested in gaming on a phone.

I replaced my old Motorola flip since the sound died on it with a Wildfire S, only got it as an upgrade for my old Sat-nav and so I can use in Japan with a local sim.

Got an unlocked one with S-Off, and I've rooted it which was easy paid around ?150. I tend to use it as per my original phone, so don't play games on it or have my eyes glued to it on the commute and therefore don't turn wireless/bluetooth on - I've also removed all the crap I don't use like Twatter and Faceblock, doing that the battery life isn't so bad but not as good as my old phone, when I was messing about with it during setting it up etc I was having to charge every other day and if you do the swipey stuff on a daily basis I imagine you'd be charging the thing every night.

Personally I'm thinking of just getting a 'normal' phone and saving the HTC for travelling/driving.

Sub-standard to Nokia's Symbian line up in every way, probably why they aren't selling despite having a larger advertising budget than Symbian had in the last several years put together, and why Nokia is posting losses for the first time ever and the share prices are down the toilet.

Anyways Android wise I'd recommend staying away from anything Motorola. Your not going to get great battery life out of any Android phones that I'm aware of but as long as you don't mind charging every night and occasionally having to charge at work if you've had some heavy usage that day you'll be fine. The Nexus One is a bit clunky but it's cheap and decent, the Nexus S is quite nice though, even if it does have a nasty, plastic casing and poor camera, it makes up for it by being reasonably snappy and the contoured screen is nice.

I didn't like Symbian and I did really like the Lumia although I would have been happy to try the N9 but thats a bit OT from me as the price bracket and the fact it's not android kinda makes it pointless even suggesting having said what do I know I'm an iOS user Oh and BK if you wanted an Xperia play you could get an unlocked UK one grade A from Cex for ?200 which is jut under your budget (I think)

I'd recommend the htc desire s. It's in your price range, decent screen size and you can use tons of apps. I had one as my last phone and no complaints at all :-)

I have owned an htc desire hd and htc sensation and loved both, a bunch of my friends also own htc phones and are very happy too

Another vote for xperia play. You only think you don't want to game on your phone because you haven't got one choc full of emulators and classic games yet.
