So just bought myself one of these. Not turned it on yet but looking forward to having a go over the weekend.
Anyone recommend some good apps etc so i can get the most out of it?

Get the Samsung Parallax Winter live wallpaper to start as it's cool and free. I like Cogs and Splice at the moment.
In fact, you can still get the Android HumbleBundle4 http://www.humblebundle.com/

Got my n10 yesterday. It's the sex of tablets. Slim, light, quick and rubberised for your pleasure.

Actually, a little too rubbery on the edges, it feels a little odd. But I loves

Picked up a new 16GB Nexus 7 (2013) yesterday as an early birthday present.
It's actually about 30 grams lighter than the original n7 and has made the leap from 1280*800 to 1920*1200. It's slightly thinner, has stereo speakers and a similar rubberised back to the n10 rather than it's predecessor.
Not overly impressed with the camera though, not adding the HDR feature present in the n4 and n10 was a bad choice.

Is the screen really as nice as some are saying though? Apparently its best in class'ish. The mono speakers on the old N7 were decent enough. I think if I upgrade my 32gb I'll wait for 32gb 4G version to hit.

Totally annoyed with the hoops you have to jump through to do stuff on the iPad mini and the ridiculous safari browser, so on a whim I've just picked up a Nexus 7 from John Lewis. 2012 though - didn't realise there was a new one.... How much are the 2013 models? Is it worth it? I don't use the iPad much - just for web on the sofa, facebook and twitter, so I'm guessing it'll be fine.

They're great, so nice to use. don't think the 2013 model has been released here yet, might be wrong. Same retail price for the new model I've read

I just checked and the screen on the 2012 is better than the iPad I already have in terms of resolution, so I think I'll be happy. If not, it'll be on here shortly for sale.

August 28th for the new version in the UK. ?199 for the 16GB version and ?239 for the 32GB apparently..

Brightness of the 2013 screen and overall quality is better than the 2012 for sure. Newer model is narrower, thinner and lighter but slightly longer. Only downer is the grainy quality of their cameras, otherwise a firm "buy" from me.

Yep. Got a memo at work today saying as much so pre-ordered a 32GB one.

Going to be tight for stock though so might be tricky to find. That happened last year too.

Anyone know of a way to view videos on my nexus 7 through my TV?
Mine isn't rooted or modded in any way.

What do you mean? If you have them on the device they'll show up in "Play Movies". Otherwise if you have a file manager app then that probably has a video viewer built in.
I would recommend MX Player but it doesn't work with Kitkat 4.4.2, which is the latest OS for the n7 (all iterations).
