Really? Well done! Have you got a blog or something about the "making of"?

This is how I run. Took quite a while to transition from heel striking. These are experienced runners (Olympic trials) doing 5km.

I used to run like this in school (I only ran in spikes on the track and cross country)

Nice vid. I'm still more of a midfoot striker, but when I wear my 4mm drop shoes I can definitely sense a natural more forward landing. On that note, I've been looking at these:

Saucony Grid Virrata Running Shoes ?44.99.

They are zero drop but still cushioned. It's really just an experiment with super lightweight minimal footwear. I'd be alternating with my existing pair(s).

Any experience with these shoes, fellow runners? They have good reviews, and I'm definitely a Saucony man.

I did, at least it started that way - but it became more of a generic cosplay blog. Here's another image though:

That's what I've been running the last 183km in. I did 34km in them yesterday morning, mostly on road with a bit of off road. Bad points: they pick up stones if you venture off the road and there's no traditional rubber, so they are going to wear out fast. Pros: light, almost no support (like wearing a slipper), zero drop. Can't fault them really. Felt a bit tender at the end of that long run under the right ball (which probably points to a need to correct that leg somehow), but fine today, barely any leg ache. Makes me want to try VFFs for that distance now 116km in the last 7 days. Wish there was a boost version to try too.

Aha, it must have been here that I heard about them. Sounds like they are worth a try, especially at that price. I'd have to ease into using them anyway, what with all my miles currently being done in 8mm and 4mm drop shoes, alternately.

Worth thinking about how you land in a cushioned zero drop too. If there is any heel-first stuff, the heel will drop into the cushion and you'll end up with a negative drop, which will increase the load on the achilles dramatically.

I'm pretty sure heels are out of the equation these days (certainly on the quicker runs, but easy runs may be less consistent). When I head out today in my 4mm drops, I'll monitor more closely.

100 fewer Saturday lie-ins and 500km later, I finally joined the 100 Club at my home Parkrun event this morning. Only 3 years to go before the 250 Club... (might ease up on that particular quest)

Cheers! And how did it go, popping your Parkrun cherry, Terry?

I loved it! I'll definitely be doing it regularly, and will use it as one of my two hard weekly sessions. Might even go all out now and again. Great atmosphere, and really busy at my local one (350 people). Can't believe I took so long signing up!
