I've been tempted by the Fujifilm FinePix W3 as I'm very much a fan of 3D pictures (and $250 plus shipping isn't bad). Has anyone else had a go with it? I vaguely remember Importaku having a 3D camera...

Nope, seems to review well enough though.

I grabbed another "bargain" on eBay recently, a Canon 1000D for cheap with a lens, it's providing pleasing results.

I also picked up one of these for ?17 - it'll be interesting to see this working on the Nikon V1.

Apparently originals of the Zeis lenses built for photographing the moon can now be rented (only states i think), they have an aperture of 0.7, lowest ever built, now thats some real lens porn for you Marty . Kubric filmed an entire movie with two of them solely in candlelight. The ones actually used on the moon were left there for weight reasons though these were all part of the same batch.

Makes you think about the forward thinking they had to employ to get the shots. Hassleblad cameras naturally.

Today, we had the yearly Honshu / Kyushu firework show that takes place between the two main parts of Japan. The show lasts for about 40 minutes and attracts people from as far as Osaka which is a few hundred miles away!

I took a 1080p video of the show which I'll be uploading to YouTube later on but for now here's a few screen grabs from the video.

And here's one I took with my phone at the pool yesterday.

I bet they cost a fair bit more than the price I paid - mind, probably cheaper than the 6mm Nikon fisheye (My moon shots are bloody awful).

I like the stopped action in that last shot Yakumo

Ha, 220 degrees viewing angle, so techically it will see behind itself. Crazy. Would be awesome for taking shots of inside the space station or other really restrictive spaces. Not for the cost of a house though :O

Thanks. I do loads of stuff like that in water but only with my phone since that is waterproof to 10 meters. No way would I take my GH2 in to there. One slip and it's bye bye camera and lens.

Video now up on YouTube of yesterday's spectacular firework festival. Best to watch in 1080p. I used manual focus too so there's none of that awful blur-O-vision every time a firework explodes.

Got the lens this morning, in nice condition and it focuses closer than I was expecting.
