I went from a Boxster S to a mkII Fabia vRS. No way would it keep up with a Boxster. Well maybe an original 2.5 986. Briefly.

[emoji38] after driving the wife's Fabia I'm sold, gonna get the Octavia VRS estate.

Skoda, Seat, VW & Audi, all the same platforms, just different badges and price tags, I've got no quarms driving a Skoda

Been learning about single scroll vs twin scroll turbos. Quite interesting. Lucy's engine is the same block / head (EJ20) as mine but feels totally different to drive. There is almost no turbo lag and it pulls hard the whole way through the revs. It also gives better mpg, even though it's a massively heavier car. You lose the kick in the back feel though, but I guess it's easy on the components all the way through the transmission.

Meanwhile, there is a Daihatsu Charade Turbo up for sale in incredible condition. I've rarely had as much fun in a car as I did in this. It was a go-kart in factory spec, with an incredible 3 cylinder 1L turbo engine. It eventually met its demise (fortunately not when I was in it), but exiting a road, going straight on at a corner and dropping a few feet down into a field, landing on its nose and rolling twice end over end, coming to rest on its roof.... lol. I doubt it will ever be a major collector's car because no one knew about them, but.... fun times. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...-turbo/3734520

Lucy's car will surely have less kick because of all the extra weight no?

Maybe. But it has 70 more bhp. The delivery is completely different though.

Heading to the Silverstone Classic next weekend, should be a blast.

I'm thinking about an Octavia VRS TDI at the moment.
The extra room over the ****box Golf would be welcome...Same BHP but infinitely better Fuel Economy & cheaper Road Tax are also big pluses at the moment

On a quick glance I thought that was a Mk1 Renault Clio but then I looked properly.

The above photo actually reminded me of the Toyota Starlet Glanza/GT.
                  Anyone else remember those?

Actually looked at one yesterday. Little 1.3 rockets.

Had to take my car back to the dealer today.

Keep getting "Warning engine fault" on the clock display and it cut out twice while idling as I was about to leave work.

                      Luckily it's still warranties.

That will be all kinds of amazing.

Quite a few around my way. Almost like them, but something about the shape is a bit off.

Warranties must be awesome. I've only had one on my motorbike and never needed to use it (it was faultless for 10 years from new).

Yeah, I was never keen on the shape either but I was surprised to see how well they are holding their value considering their age.
The hot hatch modding scene must still hold them in high regard.

I always liked the Proton Satria GTi even if it was a bit of an odd-ball. Looking at it now I'm not sure what I was thinking...Those bolted on wheel arches! Yuck!!

Yeah. They called me today and told me it's an issue with the temperature control Circuit. They also want to flash the ECU for diagnostics.

Quoted me ?312!! I told them to do one as it was warranties. 10 minutes later I get a call saying it's ?81 instead.
