I really hope he is guilty because that guy is screwed. The interesting thing for me is that the FBI had been in contact with them for years. From what so many have said about the guy they caught, this seems so against character or at least the character he portrayed. So what the hell drive him to do something like this? Was it Russia/Chechenia/FBI related? Can't help feeling it has to be.

Where did you read / hear this? Are you serious? I think you were, but some of the posts in this thread make it a bit hard to tell.

Yep, can't remember where I first read it but it's mentioned here too - http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013...s-fbi-tsarnaev

Thanks, I read a similar article after I made that post yesterday. It's all a bit confusing.

So, never having been one of the tin foil hat brigade, I was very surprised to see what the conspiracy theorists were up to after clicking on a link over at the neo-geo forums.

Very disturbing stuff. Have a look and see what you think?

Pro-gun lobby propaganda. 'They are going to say that he used reloading powder for the explosion and that it shouldn't be for sale to the public, so the sale of ammunition should be limited'.

The rest of the 'evidence' is a series of grainy and easily misconstrued and/or edited images.

Is it more likely that this is a gigantic cover up involving hundreds of people, none of whom leaked except one guy on a (completely nameless) forum? Or is it more likely that a man sucked in by the cult of extreme Islam (and I do not pull ordinary Muslims in with that at all) radicalised his brother and staged a terrorist attack?

People who spread conspiracy theories seek cover ups and conspiracy, rather than seeking accurate information. Their drive to discover elaborate malfeasance by the government overwhelms logic. It's much like 'ufologists' and ghost 'investigators. They look for aliens and ghosts, rather than looking for rational explanations. It's only when rational explanations are completely exhausted that it's possible to turn to more outlandish ideas.

I have to agree with wakka, it's 99% guff but stuff like this *tin foil hat on* is very disturbing.

The zeitgeist movies make some facinating viewing, regarding religion, the war on terror (9/11) and the banking system. Very convincing indeed.

The Zeitgeist movies are the biggest bunch of bull**** I've ever seen. They use cheap and nasty manipulation techniques and are filled with misinformation. I highly recommend the application of critical thinking when watching them.

Very frustrating how popular they've become.

I'm no photo-manipulation expert but doesn't the image of "Suspect 1" being walked away looks like it's been photoshopped on the abdomen? Well, actually the GSW appears to be more to the side in the "body" pic but it does look like a copy, paste and move up job on the first?. Any huge gash like the one above the GSW in the body pic is graphic but also perfectly consistent with medical intervention and the "official" story... As is everything else there.

The fact the author of that page compares the two pictures implying something untoward tells me he/she isn't thinking objectively and is just jumping to conclusions or twisting things to support their own version of events.

Well, a pinch of salt is required with any conspircy theory, but i found them interesting perspectives none the less.

I enjoyed the Zeitgeist movies too. If they are bull**** then no more so than the government/corporate bull**** we're fed every day. And the aim or message in the films: that we can and should live more intelligently, is a fine message.

What ever the how and whys the outcome was always going to be the same:-

In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Monday the country’s interpretation of the Constitution will “have to change” to allow for greater security to stave off future attacks.“The people who are worried about privacy have a legitimate worry,” Mr. Bloomberg said during a press conference in Midtown. “But we live in a complex world where you’re going to have to have a level of security greater than you did back in the olden days, if you will. And our laws and our interpretation of the Constitution, I think, have to change.”
Mr. Bloomberg, who has come under fire for the N.Y.P.D.’s monitoring of Muslim communities and other aggressive tactics, said the rest of the country needs to learn from the attacks.
“Look, we live in a very dangerous world. We know there are people who want to take away our freedoms. New Yorkers probably know that as much if not more than anybody else after the terrible tragedy of 9/11,” he said.
“We have to understand that in the world going forward, we’re going to have more cameras and that kind of stuff. That’s good in some sense, but it’s different from what we are used to,” he said.

No mention of the camera's, sniffer dogs, police and Private military already present. No mention that a bomb drill was taking place that very day.

If you can't stop a bomb on bomb drill day when the f**k can you stop one?

I have to laugh when he says:

"“Look, we live in a very dangerous world. We know there are people who want to take away our freedoms. New Yorkers probably know that as much if not more than anybody else after the terrible tragedy of 9/11,”

Don't get me wrong, 9/11 was horrible, I was living in NY when it happened and it was frightening and it was awful, but you can't compare it with some of the horrors other countries have seen; whether full on war, full on invasion, genocide, occupation, etc.. America has never been invaded so they probably have the least experience of their freedoms being under any real threat. The irony is the only ones taking away American freedoms are the American authorities and institutions.

Bumper sticker I saw today: Matt would fight for America.
It had a picture of him too. And an assault rifle.

I went to Pearl Harbour today. I watched the actual video of the Arizona blowing up. The noise was unbelievable. But it was still "only" 2500 men.

On the bus to Hanauma Bay yesterday, there were regular automated announcements about reporting suspicious stuff, reinforced by posters near the ceiling. It was only a 30 min trip. FEAR. I've no idea how Americans leave the house!
