Was talking to a friend about this last night who is in bomb disposal who has real first hand experience on people losing limbs via bomb blasts and he says the pics are consistent with what he's seen in the field firsthand. he said some people don't even realize whats happened and remain carm while others scream the place down he also says that, in situations like this the body can draw arteries back up to prevent a complete bleed out.

Out of curiosity, do the conspiracy theorists have a reason why this would be faked? Who gains from it and what do they gain? 9/11 at least allowed for several AWESOME wars but this? I'm not seeing what there is to gain.

The pressure of blast can obviously tear stuff to shreds. His Adrenaline could have kicked in overriding the shock and pain. Flight kicks in and diverts all available body resources to co-ordination and legs to get the vital organs away from danger.

My guess is a very simple one (that doesn't make it right as I can't possibly know for sure) - to me it looks like he got very lucky. In a blast like that with loads of shrapnel, random outcomes are going to occur. Some could get hit with one nail that kills them, others could get hit with twenty and walk away. It is entirely possible that the clothes could have been cut while not actually injuring the guy. It does seem unlikely that the clothes would be so shredded and he would look otherwise untouched but, with so much shrapnel and so many people in different positions, I think we'd see the unlikely play out along with the likely. Infinite number of monkeys and all that.
