Got a letter from immigration today (always a bit worrying that one)...inviting me to take the citizenship test in August!
I was relieved until I noticed I have less than 2 weeks to study for it. Oops.
These things take about 2 years I thought, so I had imagined having plenty of time to rememberize the facts I need. Getting the summons within a year was a surprise.

In what can only be classed as a beautiful moment, that brought a smile to my face, today was a victory for people that get tail-gated.

I was being tail-gated by a bog-standard Focus or something in a 30mph zone. When I reached the 60 zone, I nailed it and left it for dead (good to have my car back with its new engine). It caught up with me (by doing rather more than the 60mph that I was doing). Country lane, car coming towards me and I notice there is a large misshapen bit of tree and foliage lying in the road up ahead, so my only option is to slow down and stop. Not easy when someone is tail-gating you, but I stopped as slowly as I could whilst stopping inches away from the object. It was pretty massive.

While waiting for the oncoming car to go by, I noticed the Focus driver giving it all that behind me. He must have thought I was stopped in the road because of the tail-gating, because as I pulled on to the other side of the road to go around the tree, he surged forward in a weird move to maybe undertake me and drove straight on to it. LOL. He was totally stuck. It was fully wedged under his vehicle. I drove off slowly and took it easy for another couple of miles along the road, but didn't see any more of him. Presume he was there for some time.

My two main thoughts were: Bet your wife/partner in the passenger seat gave you a right earful. I bet you are sitting there trying to blame this on me, but coming up short.
