I don't go for fashionable stuff. You know, the stuff that was obviously in last year because everyone was wearing it those few months. Being 6' in Japan with long arms and long legs has helped me streamline my clothes because I'm severely limited in my choices. H&M helps. I don't own any jeans which is a shame but it's difficult to find ones that fit.
I think you'd do well to get into wearing shirts as it cools down. Unlike with hoodies, you don't have to worry about looking inappropriate/underdressed or following current fashions. It's getting cooler here so I'm breaking out the shirts and v-neck sweaters.
You could check out some vintage shops. It's much more interesting than going to Debenhams or somewhere like that. Also, because vintage shopping is a bit of a minefield I find it less embarrassing to ask staff for advice. Yes, there'll be hipsters and weirdos but you might come across a Clangers VHS on a shelf and enjoy the nostalgia.
