I'm with prinnysquad on the ignore posts stuff. Never felt the need to ignore anybody as the trolls are as much a part of any online forum as the beige majority (very definitely including myself in this group).

I'm putting you on ignore for being rational.

Being the ridiculous man child that I am, people getting MGSV so far before release has pushed my own anticipation of it back from "day one" to "I'll play it eventually".

My girlfriend's spelling when it comes to mythical creatures. "Banchi" for banshee, "leprichorn" for leprechaun. It amuses lol. I never say owt.

And as for ignore lists, I've never had anyone on there and never would. It'd be weird...with forums, it's a spectrum of online humanity, innit? I actually adore reading posts by wayward folk...although tbh this forum has always been pretty darn sane and reasonable...I don't really recall many (if any?) *proper* nutjobs or awful people...though I'd be interested to hear any tales!!!

Soz the above misspelling bit should've been in the 'smile' thread. But maybe the ignore list bit should've been in here. Split post. That's an irk. Hehe.

I've never put anyone on any forum on ignore. Much more entertaining to see their ignorant bile and laugh at it

(and personally, if anyone has me on ignore on any forum, I've never known about it, and will never care heh)

Been away this weekend, so just coming back to this. There are 89 guns per 100 people in the US. Unless something has RADICALLY happened in Canada in the last five years since the last set of gun ownership figures were published that I saw (which had Switzerland at #4 and Canada at #12 with about 30 guns per 100 people), then I wholly suspect the US is still in first place.

There are a number of countries will higher gun related death rates than the US, but that isn't an awful lot to aspire to when they are places such as El Salvador.
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

I take it back I've no idea where I got that info from. There still a bunch of idiots with guns in the states, that I stand by.

Probably Bowling for Columbine - though being by Michael Moore, that presented loads of other bull**** stats. For instance, I remember him comparing the number of gun deaths in the UK to the USA as an example of how bad things were over there - but it was just like-for-like, not per capita or anything. Now, if you multiplied the UK figure by 5-6, it was still less than the USA figure, but not as much as he obviously wanted to portray.

That may of been where I got it from. Terrible terrible documentary maker. They need to do something out there. Send the army in and just mass confiscate everything and destroy it all, really lock the gun control down, would certainly be political suicide, but what the hell, would stop more of these mass shooting occurring.

                      It's tricky.

Firstly because, unlike the UK, there are parts of the USA where owning a gun is perfectly reasonable. They have animals like bears, mountain lions, coyotes etc. which can be dangerous. This of course only excuses people in wilder areas but it's a fair observation.

Closer to the issue is the core of the American ethos; the idea of a country founded on personal freedom. This is also why they have such a brouhaha when trying to introduce something like subsidised healthcare for all. Americans (speaking as a bit of an unfair generalisation here) don't like to be told what to do.

When you look at the amount of gun deaths, I don't think it's tricky at all. If you have a major problem and don't deal with it in any way whatsoever, it will just keep on happening.

Anyone want to look up figures for US human deaths caused by bears, mountain lions, coyotes and compare them with deaths caused by people with guns? If anyone opens up a book, let me know because I know where my money is going.

A University of Calgary study showed that when it comes to bears, if you have a gun 50% of the time you can escape without injury. With a bear spray (basically a larger pepper spray) it's 97% of the time. If you accidentally use the bear spray on yourself you don't die.

Haha yep, I'm sure the what, few hundred mountain lions, or few thousand bears, are taking a massive toll on the millions of people.

I say it would be political suicide, but so what, someone like Obama would be perfect to sort it out, send in the national guard, round up every weapon by force, destroy every single one, then make it completely illegal to own any firearms what so ever.

Anything like this would simply be un-done by the next person lobbying for president however.

                            Sigh.

@dogg I'm sure they'll tell you that the deaths by bears etc. Are so low due to the dangerous ones being shot hence proving the need for guns!

In the nutjob stakes, there's always the Capcom bloke, whose name escapes me. Posted some properly unhinged stuff. Nothing nasty or threatening, just totally out there. Think he might have threatened Charles or the admin of another forum over something though. Might be mis-remembering that...
