The no meeting in households bans are such a waste of time... anything to maintain the illusion of action

Reopening schools will be given ‘top priority’, says Welsh first minister; Greencore staff to self-isolate for 14 days; Croatia, Austria and Trinidad and Tobago off safe list from 4am Saturday

More fallout as Nightclubs may see 70% of the 1,640 in the UK close down permanently in the next month. The head of the NTIA has said the Government has failed to invest in and protect the nightclub industry.
I assume, because it was on the march to collapse anyway.

Wigan is coming out of local lockdown so the Government can take a 'more targeted approach'. The news will be welcomed by local residents... or at least would have been had anyone bothered to acknowledge one was in place to begin with.

And the UK's r-rate has increased to between 0.9-1.1

I don't know what it's like across the UK, but it's pretty widely accepted here that nightclubs rarely make money and they're more of a means to clean dirty (drugs) money.

No great loss, the lock down should have seen drinking hours put back to how they used to be, rather than turning town centers into drunken battle grounds all day and night.

Interestingly a few clubs were revealed to be funded by mobsters abroad , someone told me this but I can't remember where it was. They shut down a couple and the owners were thousands of miles away.

              Cases spike in Scotland

Whilst WHO pretty much writes off 2021 and says we might be able to salvage some of 2022 if the right measures are used. So, write 2022 off as well.

No more Ministry of Sound? ☹️

One of the most useless and transparently timed reports as the PHE says outbreaks in English schools were low and more likely to be caused by home settings back in early June. A measure of lockdown falling infection rate time school infections isn't one I'd trust a jot when applied to no lockdown rising infection rate conditions and to be honest we've already lost the battle through the governments obsessive messaging about home infections - you don't get infected because of the home, you bring it home from the community and keeping that wide open means we aren't going to stop jack.

At this point we may as well just use crop sprayers to carpet the country in Covid19 and get it over with.

What do you think the kids are going back to school for?

Quarantine rules are expanding around the world, but not in America. The virus is circulating in Gaza. Researchers in Hong Kong find that in rare cases, a person can get reinfected.

Researchers have documented the first case of Coronavirus Re-Infection as they find that immunity for those already infected may expire after just a couple of months meaning first wave cases could no longer be safe from the second wave.

That's because. and maybe no surprise here, the second wave may involve a completely different, mutated strain of the virus that the current treatments won't be strong against, and anyone already recovered will be magnitudes more suscectible towards.

That's a whole lot of speculation for a single sentence.

Yeah...not really any reason to think it'll be a mutated strain.
But saying that people who get re-infected with the virus will be hit harder is probably going to be true due to the existing damage caused by the first bout.

One case of reinfection and all this speculation, come on. It has already been widely described as a different 'strain' so its not the same thing. It is as if all the C-19 Jeremiahs out there have just been waiting for this and now there's one case they latch on to it: we're doomed, we're all doomed.

                                No we're not.
