Ooh loverly!

I bought a Teensy 3.5 today and guess what? It is Teensy-tiny. Smaller than a Raspberry Pi Pico, whilst being more powerful. Kewl!

Playing Sacred (old action RPG game) and there's a load of background dialogue and every now and then you hear an old woman "oooh, young man!" just like Harry Enfield's Lovely Wobbly Old Ladies characters

EDIT: Actually, listening to the other dialogue it's more Monty Python Life of Brian style.

Being in love. Can't beat it. Makes you feel brave and strong and at the same time tender.

As anticipated, the annual trip to Thailand was screwed by their government having the usual flip-flop panic and bringing in stricter rules that would have made the whole thing an ordeal. PCR test before arrival, then quarantine on the first night waiting a second PCR test, then the introduction of a "5 day" third test where you have to go back to the hotel and quarantine again for another night and have another PCR test. Then with rising Omicron cases there, no real guarantee there'd be much to actually do. So it was all cancelled a few weeks back, on the advice of our travel agent. Would have been going next week and now I'm not. I was mentally resigned to it probably being over since about December though.

But this is the happy thread! Booked yesterday for next year and the travel agent has scored a great deal. More days, same hotel, different airline (not my preference but not a huge deal). The key point is the dates that have been secured, though - 3rd to 23rd of January! Since the office I work at shuts for Christmas and the 2nd is a bank holiday it means that my last working day before my holidays is Christmas Eve. Then I've got a whole month where I can leave my stupid work laptop in the bag!

Don't think the boss will be happy but they said "make sure you use your leave up" so tough luck. Also instead of my usual changeover in the Middle East it's a domestic flight to Heathrow then a direct 12 hour flight. 12 hours! Might have to bring the Game Gear (and 500 batteries).

Just been to the UK to bury my father-in-law, but this is the happy thread as Hirst says, so one night my bro-in-law's family and us pop out for a bite to eat. We had to wait a bit for a table, so popped into Smyths Toys to get out of the cold and keep my 10 year olds amused.

I saw right on the front desk in the gaming section, a Ubisoft Starlink starter set (with Fox McCloud figure) for the Switch for 10 quid. So, although I have told my kids that we will never buy a game that requires a thirty to fifty quid outlay and then more cash on RFID/NFC figurines, I thought £10 quid was worth a punt, especially as I knew it had some fans here (@Asura?)
They tried to scan it and couldn't. They tried overriding the till and manually charging, but couldn't, so the manager was called. He looked at the till screens and the game and said , "This is your lucky day, sir. It's yours for free".

Yep, certainly. I think there's a lot to like about it, and if I'd been 11 it would've literally been my favourite thing ever.

The toy stuff was a real anchor tied around its neck. But if your kids really like it, you can buy the ultimate digital version; it's something like £90 on the store but in sales it frequently comes down to the region of £25 and I think that just contains everything, no toys needed.
