41% voted against him. That must be a record. Its way more that May and she was called a failure.
Labour need to jump all over this now. Half the party support a criminal, and the other half are being dragged around by a leader they have no confidence in.

Apparently Dorris admitted that donors threatened to withhold money if they didn't vote for Boris. Confirming that they are a patsy government for a handful of millionaires. If we didn't already know.

All the Malcolm Tucker ****. This is what they do behind closed doors.

For the principled MPs, this is how they buy them; they tell them "you know that new Nissan factory? Would be a shame if it went to Yarmouth instead of Knightsbridge".

And for the unprincipled ones they just remind them of the photos they probably have.

Rotten to the core. The whole thing.

They said this morning that 160 of the members voting are on the payroll so would vote in his favour simply due to their jobs depending on it, it's utterly laughable that they're permitted to vote in that case and that they have the audacity to this morning claim him winning was a democratic result.

New scandal by Monday, calling it.

What it means is that on paper he has a majority but he also he has a massive rebellion in his ranks he is going to have a really hard time getting anything done over the rest of his term. When half his party don't support him the term lame duck goverment comes into effect. If this plays out how it has in the past those who are rebelling will vote with the opposition and he's pretty much screwed as far as being an active goverment that can do or change anything is concerned.

A rebellion with even less votes caused May to resign so i don't see how Johnson can see this turning our any differently. He will cling on for dear life till his term is out i bet though, no matter how badly it damages his party.

Yep, this is where the Trump tactics will kick in in full. Because there moronically isn't a mechanism to remove an unfit PM, he will simply refuse to step down in any scenario meaning they will end up going into the next General Election campaigning behind a PM that by then nearly the entire party will be against. Because of people looking out for their own jobs the entire party could spend years tearing itself apart over him.

The Lib Dems are apparently proposing a motion for another vote. The reason, apparently, is that if it's a cross-party thing, the voting record is public, and if the Tory vote isn't the same as it was last time around, it would show the Tories as the duplicitous twats they are.

That's the thing. If they motion a no confidence vote then the tory party will likely rally against it, but in doing so they'll look like complete idiots.

Not convinced of the logic of that Lib Dem idea. Sure, it might be good entertainment and a way of humiliating/shaming the Tories - if such were possible. But it might also push the rebels back into hiding or even into support.

Rebel Tories are said to have told Johnson if he doesn't turn the ship around by the next party conference in October then the rules will be changed to allow another confidence vote

That would be good, were it not a generational sleeper-ship, the size of Ganymede, moving at near-relativistic speeds

So the rebels have given him 4 months to come up with a set of private bungs, promises of honours and constituency windfalls. That's do-able.

its getting a bit ridiculous with these uTurns his plan to get people back onside seems to be Tax cuts, I'm betting it will be a 2.5% cut across the board to put most people back where they where before Aprils National insurance rise

I'm doubtful they will do anything They are kicking any action down the road by a few weeks and no doubt will spend the next two years promising action and not delivering.
