      Affect and effect

Yeah I've read the difference and I've tried to learn, but I still use them incorrectly.

One's primarily used as a verb (affect) and the other is mainly used as a noun (effect), but both can be used either way, if that's any help.

No they can’t. Not if you want to use correct grammar!

Yeah it's one or the other.

I think Affected is a word, but Effected isn't.
So 'The frog was Affected by the poison'... I think?

              Actually guys, endo is correct.

              noun:

              It had a wearying effect.

              He had a grim affect.

              verb:

              He effected a change.

              He contacted the affected persons.

              bonus adjective:

              He found the film affecting.

Not quite, one is more often a noun and the other more commonly a verb, but both have noun and verb forms: "I affected indifference to stunning effect, though the change I effected left me with a flat affect." Or something.

This thread is in equal measures hilarious and rage inducing.

                              Jane's Pantry in Gloucester:

Jane's Pantry a few miles up the road in Churchdown:

The Churchdown branch is much older. They used to correctly use the apostrophe but at some point stopped. However, most of their vans do use the apostrophe.

That's a fair point ... it would bring the standard of the produce/contents/cleanliness into question. I wasn't looking at it from a pie eater's point of view.
