Labour has scored the second biggest swing vote in their history in Selby and Ainsty with a win that also scores the youngest MP in Parliament, aged 25

Meanwhile the Liberal Democats have won Somerton and Frome

However, the Tories have held Uxbridge by just 400 votes as Sadiq Khan has cost Labour a historic victory. The deeply unpopular ULEZ expansion has shown itself to be political poison for Labour who must now decide whether to continue with the expansion or risk losing London Boroughs at the General Election.

Remind me not to got to Uxbridge ever.

When I think of this Tory government from David Cameron to where we are now, I honestly can't think of a single thing they've achieved. You could have had no-one in power for 14 years and still be in the same place, if not a better position than now.

Yep, I'm curious as to what a die hard Tory voter feels the Tories have actually accomplished in all this time

Uxbridge voted Tory as they are really pissed with Labours Sadiq Khan for extending the Low Emmison Zone to their area and want to keep their heavily polluting vehicles. Why are so many Land Rovers needed in an area so close to London? Its a status symbol to drive a Chelsea tractor and how can you let people know how rich you are if you don't drive a white Land Rover Vogue.

Hardcore Tories would respond: They’ve dismantled huge swathes of the welfare state which Labour won’t agree to reverse, and Brexit, which shows a rejection of the European social model and will in time lead to the elimination of red tape (as in social and employment rights), as well as making Britain much more hostile to foreigners.

The ULEZ thing is more about vehicle age than size/type. If your Land Rover is Petrol Euro-4 or Diesel Euro-6 compliant then you can quite happily smash it up kerbs and run down bus queues or whatever.

I think it's more of a cross-party issue really, but one more likely to affect somebody who has less money and can't just pull money out to buy a newer vehicle. If they decided to make ULEZ a thing in my city, I don't own a vehicle that would be compliant with it either. Surprisingly during a cost-of-living crisis I don't have a few thousands pounds sat in my back pocket to buy something else with no guarantee they won't shift the goalposts again in a few years.

Creating a situation where child poverty is at an all time high and food bank usage has increased ten fold, in one of the most wealthy country's in the world, where footballers have to campaign to get kids fed over the school holidays

It doesn't feel like we eliminated any red-tape we created conflict with northern and southern Ireland and made things far more difficult for trade and movement with our neighbors creating a shortage of workers which has seen immigration jump from 200,000 a year to 600,000 a year. despite this our farms cant get cheap European workers anymore and have lost EU farming subsidies, it feels like UK farming is on the verge of collapse, with our fishing industry being close behind it.

Yep, the ULEZ thing is something where they just needed to take people with them. Explain rationally the reasons, put proper support in place to transition to compliant vehicles etc but the reality is that the ULEZ is bull****. It's a profit machine to fill Khan's empty council pockets and he's been utterly disasterous in selling it to the public. Any congestion charge or emmissions tax is a temporary measure by definition, that it's so heavy handed and permanent highlights the real intention behind it, that it's an additional car tax and because people can see that it loses votes. It's the kind of thing, and handled in such a way, that I'm amazed it's not actually something the Tories are sneaking in and Labour fighting. It will make sod all difference as well except slaughter the local population and businesses finances making it far more harder for them to be able to afford to switch to greener vehicles.

Better idea, invest in greener infrastructure and end the countries fixation of funneling everything and everyone around London. It won't shock me if Khan loses the London Mayorship to the Tories next year which in the current political landscape would be a staggering embarrassment for Labour.

Good on Labour showing that they can create policy's as unfair and unpopular as anything the Tories can do. with the sir Kid Starver pun doing the rounds this week it seems our choices for the next government is right or far right.

Sunak says that what he takes from the byelection results is that he has to do even more of what he's already doing

And now you've got Mogg saying that they should now drop all expensive green policys (well done Uxbridge)

Yeah, not great. A part of me hopes that its a play he making to get the right leaning voters on his side for the next GE. Labour are still tied to the unions which are slightly more left leaning, so perhaps once he's in power he'll be forced to move slightly more to the left.

We need more Parties at the end of the day.

Remember Cameron and Obsorne’s “big society” play, as in aiming to get charities to pick up the pieces where parts of the welfare state were demolished? They certainly had ‘success’ there. (Except of course for all the charities struggling because the state funding used to supply services and support to people has been axed as well.)

Yeah, it’s an utter ****show and no-one with any public power has the balls to say that the protectionism of Brexit is making everyone poorer, and Britain is even more miserable and xenophobic.
