Yeah, I heard that on the news this morning and how Braverman wants to just ignore the European Court of Human Rights.

What must people outside the UK think of us?

It feels like DeSantis' battle with Disney. Aggressively pushing a battle they lack the intelligence and common sense to ever win, doubling down all the time over something that I just don't think the majority of people care about.

The DeSantis thing is so odd because he's hoping to get the support of like-minded Americans that feel uncomfortable even saying the word "gay", but by starting a war with Disney, it feels like he's picking on a major employer in the region.

Personally, I feel this is different in the UK.
There's the similarity of pushing this agenda they think are vote winners, but every time they do something like amending these laws, it's perfect for the Conservatives because they can say "Oh we tried to stop the illegal migrants, but the nasty European Court (whisper: of Human Rights) stopped us! Another great reason for Brexit!" then don't have to do anything when it's overturned.

Just be aware that there will be a lot more of this kind of conversation as we get closer to an election.
Trans rights is the next boogeyman they'll be using.

It's why I've got little patience anymore when it comes to next years GE and the argument that it doesn't matter because Labour and Conservatives are the same - they're not, not in the slightest and it couldn't be more imperative to take whatever option gets the Tories out as fast and as long as possible

It's not a great option in many ways but it's also not as bad as the Tories on pretty much any issue. As one of the only two options realistically on the table it's the sole viable one.

I studied politics mate, I know. Not going to vote in next months local elections anyway, and it’ll be a long time before I probably vote again, futile as it mostly is anyway. (My partner’s an EU citizen, and she’s now robbed of the right to vote BTW. All that tax and hard working and no more say. None of the main parties seem to care about that though.)

Good riddance to Raab, the horrible bully. Doesn’t surprise me that Sunak was clearly too weak to sack him, strongly suspect he was asked to resign. Either way Sunak looks weaker than ever.
