Though Truss will try to hang everything on Kwasi, she ultimately has nowhere to turn in approach. Every solution to her problem just creates more problems, she stole the leadership on fantasy and for Sunak it must be glorious to be proven right to this extent. Even if Hunt calms things she is toast on her next move, she's created too many problems too fast and she can't blame it on the people she chose twice. Next full blown crisis within a month at best

She's not long to go, Jezzer with the silent c won't do much, I believe he has a PPE like Eddie Bollocks but from what I read Ed was the best chancellor in recent times not to hold office.

Time for an election, I've said many times captain hindsight will get in just hope he doesn't waste his opportunity.

I pray she doesn't. I want to see her get demolished in the election run up interviews. Yesterday she failed to answer a single question, and just kept parroting the same response, while looking flustered.

Doesn't matter whether she stays or goes, the government isn't going to give up an 80 seat majority - even those Tory MPs that don't like her aren't going to be wanting a GE right at the moment, so there isn't going to be one.

We're going to end up with Johnson back as PM.

THB, getting rid of Truss now would make them look even more ridiculous and very doubtful it would help their polling, and would annoy their wider party membership.

It would be a pretty daft thing to do I'd say.

Jeremy Hunt's single facial expression is amazing. He looks like a ferret who's just been told he's been a very good boy and is getting a treat.

Been listening to The Rest is politics podcast on Spotify which is a discussion between Rory Stewart and Alistair Cambell on the state of UK politics at present from two apposing political view points. Their was a really interesting discussion on the way that the current Tory leadership contest was run and how undemocratic a process it is. At the moment anyone can become a Member of the Tory party, you pay your fee and your added their is no real checks you don't even have to be from the UK or a Human a recent stunt got a tortoise added to the Tory membership and he had a vote for who was the new PM.

Hunt just took a match too all of Truss's Tax plans, hes also said that the current help with fuel bills and the £2500 price cap per year will end in April next year.

Business Secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg tells reporters the meeting with Tory MPs went "extremely well".

To review it after 6 months. Which was the original Labour proposal.

So the chancellor has just taken a big **** on every aspect of the PMs economic policy that she won the leadership on. Looking forward to the awkward squirming in PMQs on Wednesday, if she lasts that long.

The backbenchers will be absolutely fuming that Hunt has stripped energy support back to the level that it's now barely different that the Labour proposal. And costly or not, literally the words 'Tories scale back support' are the last ones they need to be putting to the public right now.
