Asteroid triggers global defence plan amid chance of collision with Earth in 2032

Hundred-metre wide asteroid rises to top of impact risk lists after being spotted in December by automated telescope

At the moment the asteroid is moving away in a straight line making it difficult to work out its trajectory, so once that's worked out it'll probably drop off the Torino scale, it's currently listed as a 3, with a 1:83 chance of collision and destruction it's not extinction level tho, so don't worry unless you're in the city it hits, then you can panic.

I'm watching agog at the news as Trump holds a press conference and lists reasons for the fatal helicopter/plane crash:
-Diversity hires
-Diversity quotas
-Dwarf air traffic controllers
-Mentally impaired air traffic controllers
-Biden
-Obama
-The 2020 election
-Pete Buttigieg (Former United States Secretary of Transportation)
-People without common sense, unlike him

What he hasn't blamed the crash on is when he:
-Forced out the FAA chief at Musk's insistence (after criticising SpaceX for safety failures)
-Imposed a hiring freeze that reportedly included air traffic controllers
-Fired the TSA head and gutted a key aviation safety committee
-Sent a retirement/buyout ransom letter to FAA employees

I've seen the (admittedly harrowing) uncut video that syncs up the audio, and yeah, I think the reason seems pretty clear.

The helicopter pilot was being warned to watch out for proximity to a plane, when there were two planes in his airspace of similar type. They've observed the plane that was further away, and believed that was the one about which they were being warned, right up until being struck by the other one they didn't realise was there.

It's kinda like you're driving and there are two sky blue 90s Nissan Micras near you, one of which is directly to your right, the other is in your left blind spot - and someone in the back of the car says "watch out for the Micra".
