Speaking of inappropriate behaviour on an airplane, the Argentinian Presidential B757 makes a low-level pass and bank over an airport during a rainy day, with thunderclouds at a low ceiling.

What are these vile slags playing at, as if it wasn't obvious? Comeback of the populist demagogues.

The former US president is one of several Republicans Mr Johnson has met on a trip to the US this week.

Why the **** is this on the BBC news?! WHY. FIND ME THE PERSON WHO PUT IT HERE AND MAKE THEM TELL ME, A LICENSE PAYER.

"Private citizen meets private citizen" is news, now?

This is an absolute non-happening. There's no reason it would be more than a footnote.

Thing is, any other media outlet could claim that it's because people will read it. Ultimately for most news media, they want to post things because they "promote engagement", and this definitely does.

But not the BBC, because the BBC is paid for by license payers. Direct engagement is financially meaningless to them.

If you're on their editorial team, the only reason to post this is because you consider this a newsworthy event.

Would they post on the BBC politics news if Gordon Brown met Junichiro Koizumi?

Similarly, WTAF does Farage keep getting interviews and being quoted?

Donald Trump has a massive influence on the Republican party and a section of the US population that is very vocal, is likely to be selected candidate for the Republican party in the 2024 presidential elections, and has a non-zero chance of being the PoTUS again (like it or not) and wants to stop sending money to Ukraine to make American great again or something.

Johnson was influential in supporting Ukraine and Zelenskyy still considers his support important, this meeting was about continuing to support Ukraine (Johnson also met with other US politicians).

One of the opinion pieces in The Times doesn't look on Johnson's trip favourably - and whether you like the man or not, Johnson still has sway in political circles, home and abroad (and will likely continue to even after he's no longer an MP, just as Blair still does).

The story has been covered by Reuters, The Guardian, Sky News, The Telegraph to name but a few, this is news. In fact, I'd go as far to say it would be a dereliction of duty if the media didn't report meetings like this, should it allow people like Trump and Johnson to plot in secret.

US air force denies running simulation in which AI drone ‘killed’ operator

"Col Tucker “Cinco” Linda Hamilton described a simulated test in which a drone powered by artificial intelligence was advised to destroy an enemy’s air defence systems, and ultimately attacked anyone who interfered with that order.

“The system started realising that while they did identify the threat, at times the human operator would tell it not to kill that threat, but it got its points by killing that threat,” said Hamilton, the chief of AI test and operations with the US air force, during the Future Combat Air and Space Capabilities Summit in London in May.

“So what did it do? It killed the operator. It killed the operator because that person was keeping it from accomplishing its objective,” he said, according to a blogpost.

“We trained the system: ‘Hey don’t kill the operator – that’s bad. You’re gonna lose points if you do that.’ So what does it start doing? It starts destroying the communication tower that the operator uses to communicate with the drone to stop it from killing the target.”"
