Republicans should be much more concerned that after nearly a decade their sole hope remains a man who has none of their interests at heart, a known criminal who will prioritise himself over their needs and acts as a lifeline to a party with a sustained vaccuum of personalities within itself who can lead the party once Trump is either permanently out of office or in the ground.

A whole campaign on 'making America great again' when in fact if you support Trump at all it means that you actively hate your own country because he is systematically tearing it apart

We can at least take joy in the desperation Trump is wallowing in - I'm pretty sure that as much of front as he's trying to put up, behind the scenes he's both fuming and crapping himself given there's no clear workable defense based on the indictments; most of the rope comes from the Trump camp's own emails, messages, telephone calls, and actions - these are tangible things that can't be denied.

The only way that many of these accusations laid out in the various indictments can be rebuffed is for Trump himself to take the stand under oath and deny them, I can't imagine any defense lawyer wanting to take the risk of doing that as the prosecution would have him tied up with a bow in short order, he would never be able to stay on script.

No wonder he's desperate to get the power to (try and) pardon himself.

Except his supporters believe the left is tearing the country apart with Hunter's laptop, trans rights, teaching kids about gay sex and drag queens, extreme wokeness, and Trump is there to bring the country back together by eliminating all that.

I think that highlights how moronic they are. There are Republicans who will happily pursue those goals for their own self-ambition but don't get anywhere because of the cult of Trump. Trump on the other hand won't deliver them anything, he's entirely too self-serving to actually do any of it and the part that remains the most bewildering is that all the evidence they need is right there in front of them - he's already served a full term, there's no reason at all for anyone to buy into his BS anymore.
