I don't think it was that long ago a child shot a gun instructor with an uzi.
Why the **** did a kid have access to an uzi?
I'll never go to the states in fear of getting shot or being sued for calling someone an arse hole . I'm actually serious.

By learn from this they mean add it to school books as an example when teaching them about the importance of 6yrs defending their rights to own automatic weapons

It was at a gun range. So I'm guessing two things happened
1: Any gun can be used, regardless of user ability, rate of fire and calibre
2: Children are allowed admission and can use weapons at will

        The kid was only 9!

Two points that should even be in concideration. A user should only be allowed to use a gun they are licensed to use. And kids shouldn't even be allowed near such death tools. Talking about tools, the place must have been run by a bunch of them.

I don't even read about US shootings anymore. Like, I hate to be so cold - but I used to get very emotionally affected by them (as you do when reading about a tragedy anywhere) but they've just run out the clock at this point.

Musk breaks financial records, finally for something we can enjoy. He lost at least $182bn in a year breaking the previous record of $58.8bn. Long may such events continue

It was Sandy Hook, for me.
If the majority of Americans think gun rights are more important than the lives of children, then they're lost.
After that, most shootings are just another daily occurrence that they've chosen not to address.

I don't think he'll be stacking shelves just yet, but it's nice to see actions having consequences.

Us mortals trying not to go over the overdraft each month have no comprehension of these number and million and billion sound so similar, but a billion is so much more.
It helps to think of it in time:
                • A million seconds is 12 days.
                • A billion seconds is 31 years.
                • A trillion seconds is 31,688 years.

Most Americans want tighter gun laws, but due to how their political system is, these laws are stopped in one of the Houses or if they pass they are severly watered down.

The NRA is too powerful and theirs too much money tied up in the sale of guns and ammunition, it makes a lot of people very rich and very rich people use their power and influence to make sure nothing gets in the way of them selling even more guns. Nowhere else in the world sells guns on the scale that the Americans do, its a massive industry and a few school shootings are the price you pay for having more guns than people.

If there were a majority that wanted it, which would affect who got elected, I believe the political parties would be embracing tighter gun laws.

The 2nd Amendment is sacrosanct to the majority and nothing is more important to them.

By the 9th of Jan, there were already 21 mass shootings.

It's an education issue. They need to start teaching kids what the constitution actually says so that when they grow up and become politicians the BS interpretation isn't so ingrained in people

Wow, they're on a roll this year, set themselves up to smash the 648 they scored in 2022: https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/past-tolls

Honestly while that's true, I think part of that should be related to the danger in putting too much stock in absolute written documents that aren't supposed to change, when change is, by definition, the default mode of all existence.

Ha, I always laugh when it's said that there's no way there should be any changes to the 2nd amendment.
