It's not just Trump, it's the whole Republican party that has shifted of an almost fundamentalist Christian stance and if it's not 2025, it will be the next election. Project 2025 (or whatever it's called) is an abominable program, but I'll give this to Republicans: they have covered their bases incredibly well and are feeding Trump exactly what he needs to win.

America has full on lost its mind, so any official act you can't be prosecuted for

• Justices decided there are two official acts in this case: Directing the Justice Department to discuss investigating purported election fraud with some states and talking to then-Vice President Mike Pence (Trump pressed him to not certify the results of the 2020 election)
• They also said the speech Trump gave on the morning of 6 January 2021 encouraging rally attendees to march on the Capitol and suggesting he might join them was an official act, as were the tweets he sent that day
• They raised questions about whether pressuring state officials to change their states' electoral votes for Trump and creating what is commonly called the "false electors" lists for some states were unofficial, but they leave it to lower courts to decide

Might as well lump on at the bookies and try to make some money out of what will be a bleak end to the year when Drumpf finally wins.

This could've been averted years ago if Biden had been humble enough to just be a one-term President to allow to younger Democrats to come through - his legacy would've been preserved in a positive way. The next four years are going to be f--k--g grim.

Not immune from any prosecution. But the two things Trump has been given immunity for would seem to suggest that undermining the already-flimsy democracy is official enough to give him immunity. If Biden was a spiteful man, it would seem this would open the door for some serious stuff before he leaves but then, from what I gather (and honestly I'm only dipping in and out), the Republicans basically seem to have a hold over the supreme court so what Trump gets immunity for and what Biden would could be two very different things.

Trump immediately pushes against his hush money conviction via the ruling. Doubtful it will make much difference as the offence took place before his presidency.

It would apply to all presidents - there would be no procescutions for "official" acts to ever get to the supreme court for them to rule on - and very poor precedence it it.

But no Biden can't just hand down death penalties for Treason, he's still not a King. He'd need to instruct special forces to assassinate opponents as official enemies of the state. Then it's an official act.
