BBC worked out shooter was 130m away and was shot dead very quickly by a secret service sniper. The same sniper that hadn't noticed him crawling along a roof with a rifle for 3 minutes, or all the people pointing at the roof. I think I've seen this film...

You should have been able to make that shot even with an AR at 130m, next time use an optical sight.
The shooter was a registered Republican, but the propaganda from this will be unbearable, so from that perspective it's a shame he missed.
If you really want to wind up your Trump supporter friends though, remind them than Biden can legally have Trump assassinated if it's official.Comment

I don’t like Trump, but scary scenes all the same. Condolences for the confirmed victim and hope the others in hospital recover. I expect, as others have said, that Trump will turn this into a horrendous marketing opportunity. Indeed he had his fist pumps in within seconds.
Worrying that this could be a tinder box, sparking further violence and unrest. I will watch with interest to see more about the motive of the suspect. BBC reporting he was a registered republican but also donated to a progressive organisation on the day Biden was inaugurated.Comment

It'll be interesting to see how he goes after this. Yes he'll lie and spin it but at the same time I don't believe it'll pull in more voters for him, more it'll really dial up his paranoia, it failed but it showed others with an inclination that he's a strikeable target. I don't think Trump's ego has ever really let him think such an attempt was realistically possible but now he's literally felt the graze of a bullet, a fate he probably fears more than prisonComment
