I don't think anyone here on BD is ruling out Trump's chances of winning at all. That the broad consensus across the media/social media is that Harris won the debate is clear, but it's obviously only one data point.
It's clear that it's going to be a very, very tight race and that's why turnout is so important and being emphasised by both camps (voter registration among young Black/Latino women is 150%+ higher than 2020 in some swing states which is encouraging for the Dems). It's also why the Harris campaign are continually branding themselves as the underdogs. Complacency would and could absolutely kill them.
Same goes for Trump and that's why in his early August doldrums his polling plummeted as he loafed around Mar a Lago licking his wounds and reminiscing about the Biden days.
Not to mention, there are extra complications in the shape of how the Trump campaign will oppose the election result if it doesn't go in their favour. If we get anything close to a Gore/Bush style statistical tie, they will be aiming to push it all the way up to SCOTUS. Which could be very dicey.Last edited by wakka; 11-09-2024, 14:30.Comment

Trump's nutcases say that Harris was wearing bluetooth headphones during the debate (she wasn't; her earrings were from Tiffany).
Democrat nutcases are saying Trump's first assassination attempt was real, but Trump wasn't actually hit because there's no sign of a wound now (which is also daft; even tiny cuts on the ear can bleed a lot, so even if the shot just grazed him that would account for the blood).Comment
