My condolences.
My father in law died a few years ago just after Xmas. We saw him on Xmas day, he was fine. We watched a film and had drinks. A week later he was dead.
Ive dealt with bereavement before, but when it's like this I don't think you ever really process it.

All the best to your family.

Sorry to hear that some of you are struggling at Xmas. Condolences to nanny and his family. Terrible turn of events.

My kids and I all had gastroenteritis in the week up to Christmas. Started with one of my twins, then a day later the next one, then a day later my daughter and I started. It was pretty virulent - haven't thrown up and had such gut pain with Norovirus for about 5 years. Then on Christmas eve my wife came down with flu, so I had to catch up with wrapping the presents for everybody and tbh, wasn't really feeling it.
Miraculously, the kids and I recovered enough to be able to eat anything and we all pulled together to get a cut-back Xmas dinner ready. My wife was just about able to get a little food and I think we managed to make an okay Xmas from the ashes of sickness!
My missus is still really ill, so we're letting her sleep, I'm doing the cooking (god help us all!) and we're just pootling about exploring our presents and trying to keep the noise down.
Glad tidings to you all, I hope 2023 works out better for everybody.

My twin brother passed on the 21st of December 11 years ago and my oldest friend I was still in contact with passed Xmas day 2 years ago. Proper sucky time of year.

Condolences MonkeyJuggleDX, losing friends and siblings is tough for everyone but your losing your twin brother must be terrible. I hope you find moments in your own life where you feel him close to you.

I know that with my Dad's memory, when I'm thinking of how to fix something, I can get either a flash of inspiration, or perhaps I'm just using one of my his more obscure tools to get it done, I kind of feel closer to him and I find it comforting.

Thanks all ... Yeah it's been a proper crap end to the year. I'm just trying to be here for my wife at the moment and trying to look after our kids while she's still down Devon with her mum.

Short version is I'm utterly shattered every day but the good news is we're heading back down there for the weekend so they'll be happy to see their mum again... it's hard on them more than anything else, I'm ok myself and just trying to keep things going so my wife doesn't have to think about it.
