That's a fair point and Greens can steal some Tory voters, but Reform feels like they're for people who feel the Tories aren't racist enough.
Anyone see this exchange in Parliament this week?
Lee Anderson is asking Jess Phillips about progress into the enquiry into grooming gangs - remember, the Tories did one but didn't carry out any of the 16 recommendations - only to ask "is she part of the cover-up?" So shameful, he got booed and some MPs shouted "Shame"

Politicians can basically say anything now. Their fans will love them for it and won't read the retraction.

At current time of writing, 49 of the 98 available local council seats up for grabs have been won by Reform.
It's almost like getting into power on a mandate of change (despite not being popular) only to emulate Tory austerity and then talking down to people who have been hard-****ed by said Tory austerity for the last fourteen years and telling them that they're the problem if they breakaway from the status quo that clearly isn't working for them (instead of creating the proper change that said current Gov't was elected to do) doesn't work. Ho hum.
I obviously hope I'm wrong, but it feels like, barring a true political miracle, we're circling the drain before Farage and Reform somehow win power at the next GE.Last edited by Nu-Eclipse; Yesterday, 13:12.

Pretty awful results. The taboo on voting for fascists is broken and we can only hope they fall from favour.
The only consolation is that Labour clung on here in the West of England.
Will be interested to see the results in full however which might give some positives for progressive parties in some areas at least.

Latest results show an almost 1 for 1 gain/loss between Reform (+628) and the Conservatives (-629). Labour have lost 176 seats with the Lib Dems (+157) and the Greens (+43).
I think I'd be more worried if I was Badenoch rather than Starmer right now, in the short term at least. Labour do need to sort themselves out though if they want to get a second term. God help us if Reform's ascent continues and Farage ends up PM.

Yep, with the UK being a right wing leaning nation for the most part it feels like (as Labour are never likely to hold on to their major majority regardless) that the bulk of the responsibility still lies with the Tories. Reform are a protest vote and the remaining Tories really need to wake up to the fact that copy/pasting Reforms BS is a large part of what got them where they are. They need to stop parroting it and hit the reset button.
The single most glaring thing in the results is that Badenoch needs to go as soon as possible, she's another lame duck appointment and the members need to wake TF up and put someone in charge who plans to completely reinvent their brand. Even a modest draw of voters in the next 4 years will be enough to kick Reforms legs out from under it - that's not counting how closely Farage has allied himself to Trump and his views, the Trumpcession is going to be a hard slap to wake up to.
I'm still in the everything to play for phase. At this point after the last GE we were in the '10 Years of Boris' mode and no-one gave **** that the Tories were doing nothing for anyone so things can and likely will change fast before 2029 rolls around.
But yeah, 100% - Badenoch out and end of the Tory-Reform Lite nonsense or the needle isn't going to move.
