Hang on, there’s a retirement age?
On a serious note all they will do is F the now generation, both now and in the future, to keep the near retirement people’s vote. Then, when we get to retirement, nope, poof, no more pensions sorry, all gone.Last edited by fishbowlhead; 27-03-2024, 12:08.

Footage of people panicking, designed to attack the London mayor’s record on crime, was filmed in a New York subway station
how embarrassing
look at the state of the tube in london!!!
Thats New York
IS IT!!! can't say myself or any one in our party has ever been on a tube, so it's an easy mistake to make.

The idea was admirable but never set to work without some level of control over the rest of the market. Prices have just automatically inflated to adjust ever since which is why no-one ever feels better for it. Walking I to a Supermarket on 01 April alone exposes how the market abuses the NMW

Also, please, tell us what you think a better economic policy in the last generation than the NMW is.

The point of a minimum (ideally living) wage is that we, as a society, have decided that a person working for an appropriate amount of hours a week should earn an appropriate amount of money to live.
Asking to pay people less is either (1) asking people to work more than what we know to be appropriate or (2) asking people to live at a level that's less than what is agreed to be a minimum acceptable level.
If trying to employ someone below NMW, you're not providing a job, you're perpetuating misery.

NMW is only an appropriate amount of money if the market reflects that it. There's a ton of other factors but NMW only ever set a baseline to prevent exploitative employers, it doesn't drive workers and families out of poverty or destitution which is why there are European countries without it that have a higher standard of living.
Infrastructure spending etc all have a much bigger beneficial impact on people and the economy than NMW does, same with healthcare with the reduction of either carrying a much heavier impact, something we're all sadly going to feel sharply in the coming years as the bill comes due on the Tories mishandling job.Last edited by Neon Ignition; 01-04-2024, 00:47.

You mean wilfully choosing austerity?
Please stop using language that deliberately downplays the damage that the Tories have done over the last fourteen years.

This isn't a 1 party issue, this is a political issue of the highest order in this country, every one of them is to blame, ALL OF THEM.Last edited by fishbowlhead; 01-04-2024, 09:52.
