The Supreme Court effectively tells Cruella to shut her poisonous mouth saying that the UK being part of the ECHR is not the sole reason that Rwanda flights have not taken off and exiting the agreement won't make them happen.

The Supreme Court rules that the Rwanda Plan is unlawful - largely on the basis that Johnson and Patels original assessments of its viability were utter nonsense and that Braverman just lied about it constantly with no data supporting its legality because Rwanda constantly breaks its agreements around immigration

So if we where sending Asylum seekers somewhere safe then the policy would be lawful it seems, a lot of it revolves around if they will be treated fairly and the likelihood of them being returned to the country of origin if they could suffer harm. Rawanda having a history of screwing over asylum seekers shows this uk deal was more of a let someone else do the dirty work and we can wash our hands of it type affair which is pretty shocking

The Supreme Court highlights pretty well how Rawanda is not this safe haven for asylum.

Rwanda has a 100% rejection of asylum claims from countries such as Syria and Afghanistan.

Turning to the evidence, Reed says Rwanda has been criticised for extrajudicial killings. He says the police in the UK have had to warn Rwandan refugees about threats to kill them.

Reed says the UNHCR also raised the Israel-Rwanda deal, operating between 2013 and 2018. Israel sent asylum seekers to Rwanda. Rwanda was meant to comply with the non-refoulement rule, he says. It was similar to the UK deal.

But, Reed says, under this system asylum seekers were routinely sent to a neighbouring country from where they were likely to be refouled.

So a pretty good one two punch for Braveman it leaves the Rwanda deal in the toilet and shows her up as the cruel opportunistic liar she is, a pretty good legacy for someone so Toxic.

That's exactly it, it seems doubtful that Braverman ever planned or expected it to succeed and simply used it as an incredibly expensive political ploy to leave the ECHR which might be why they made the point of highlighting how it's nonsense that the agreement is a factor

I don't get the thinking on that - if deporting people to Rwanda didn't pass a judicial review, then declaring Rwanda a safe country so you can deport people there is also not going to pass a judicial review.

At least the Tories will be out before this even gets a chance to dry the ink in the law books.
