You lived in Godalming? That's my hometown! Even in this small little niche Forum, it's amazing how small the world is sometimes.

I've been thinking a lot about age recently, as I approach 40 and my Nieces who I saw from day 1 of their lives are now hitting the end of school, it's strange how everyone here used to feel so young. Whenever our real lives sliped out around the cracks of us talking about Freeloader on GameCube or asking when each others Play-Asia order of a new Fight Stick for VF4 Evo, it always felt like a large majority of us were getting on by at Uni or work that paid **** as we were hustling to get by.

Now so many of us seem settled, or going through divorce and some of life's traumas, it all feels more grown up now!

I could not be more happy where I am in life now, and back in the early days I was too deep into gaming, but I do miss that excitement of importing and finding old consoles on eBay for such little money for the joy of it, rather than the collecting of it.

We can't go back, but I do miss those times with you all here.

That's partially forum culture. I don't think anyone under the age of 20 knows what a forum is

Don't say that and make me think I'm even older than I already feel!

We talked about this before, where social media is almost the opposite of that definition; It's shouting loudest to get heard or posting expensive stuff you've purchased to get noticed. Forums feel a nice place as there's house rules and you join the Forum as normally you have an interest that the Forum represents. It's only recently with FaceBook Groups and What's App Groups and Discord Servers, where they've either attempted to replicate the Forum feel or naturally found that's what some of us miss; A place to discuss a shared interest, rather than shouting into a void you inner most thoughts.

Yep sure did! Not for too long though only about 5 years or so before I moved back to Australia. That part of Surrey is absolutely magical, I loved living there.

Good lord, i randomly stumbled here again but it's been an age since NTSC-UK. Lifes been a bit rollercoaster-y and i'm only just getting back into gaming regularly lately.

I see a few familiar faces though!

My goodness i remember Marcus mainly from that creepy silent hill pink bunny avatar that he used to have. Like a lot i'm in the 20 to life club. I remember faintly the forum that used to exist before we all migrated onto here when it was created, but it's been so long now that it's like some weird retirement home for past importers. I have only been to a few real life meets when Paul (crisp rapper) used to still be a member before he was banned lol. We all invaded his girlfriends parents home while they were all away and spent the weekend playing so many weird & silly games. Jazz hijacking my DS all weekend because he was super addiced to zoo keeper lol.

Still remember the meet at Davefallows place with Phil lai & Paul, that was the winter the Wii released in Japan and i managed to get it into the uk mere days after it's japanese launch so we took it with us and Paul & Phil came along, Dave had a projector setup on his wall so we binged the launch titles for most of the weekend warioware been a odd highlight although the rabbids was a fun one too. Still remember someone bringing a romhacked copy of starfox 2 over a decade before nintendo would finally release it. Was so cool seeing it on a massive projector, a few times i have had various forum members crash at mine i used to meet up with Richard (Nintendomad) a few time a year as he was the only other person i have met that was into the same nintendo stuff with the same passion, would spend several days binging our way through my collection & the stuff he used to bring with him. Still miss him after all these years his death still hurts even now. Remember Yakumo (Mark) coming over when he was visiting the uk on his mission to learn & get his uk driving license before going back home to japan, was fun to finally meet the person who i had been chatting to for so long online poor sod has bought me so much stuff over the years even when he came to my place he was carrying gamecube/gba games i had ordered from him lol. Remember the launch of the wii and me chatting to him on yahoo messenger to keep him company that morning while he waited outside the toys r us near the original place he used to live to open to pick up the wii and launch titles.

There's so much stuff i have forgotten too i have very faint memories of fragments of things that were posted on here sadly the forum has fallen over several times and we lost a lot of the really old threads i can't remember name just memories of their avatars or drama. A lot of people have left or moved on after growing away from import gaming i for whatever reason seem to have not grown out of this phase yet still making unwise purchases from japan even now. Theres still a small bunch of us supporting the japanese economy lol.
