The Japan Trip Resource Thread!

Before I went away back in Feb I was checking the currency 3 - 4 times a day!! It gets pretty addictive. The only annoying thing was that xe.com gives you one value and then Lloyds TSB lists lower because of their cut

Still, October can't come soon enough. Having a bit of a tough time at the moment and the thought of being back in Tokyo is keeping me just the right side of sane.

cherry blossoms are out. Last time for me to see them in the near future...

I'll be back over for golden week at the end of the month.. gave my Nationwide card to a friend when they came over here at New Year (only ever use it to make cheap withdrawals overseas!) so might get them to take some cash out in advance for me seeing as the rate has become a little more bearable at the moment. Fortunately (unfortunately?) only a 2 week trip and will just be taking it easy so shouldn't need to spend too much.

Departing 7.30pm this Wednesday from LHR to see the wife and kid who I haven't seen for 4 months. Schedule is:-

Arrive Narita Thurs 4pm - 3 hour coach journey to Gunma arrive 9pm meet wife and kid

Fri sort out immigration papers

Sat head back to Narita by coach to catch flight to Tapei for four day trip with family

Tue evening back to Gunma by coach

Wed/Thu/Fri relax

Sat 3 hour train journey to Yokohama

Sun return back to Gunma

Mon 4am catch coach to Narita, depart 11am plane backto Heathrow, arrive in Essex 9pm

Tue 8.40 turn up for work

Yes she is Japanese and in Japan and pregnant wih the second!

Managed to get 146 to the yen when I got my money changed this lunchtime (tourist rate always lower) Wish it was back to 230

I think we need to impose a forum-wide ban on importing things from Japan for a few months, that should help drop the Yen down a bit

Apparently they have thermal imaging cameras at Narita airport to stop the spread of the swine flu. I need to pray I dont pick up a cold or the normal flu between now and sunday since I dont want to be turned away!!

The sterling seems to be on the rise again 148yen today

They had them at KIX during 2003 and the SARS outbreak.
