Even Lucas scored lol. Not looking good for Newcastle though is it. Barton, what a prick.

Still, it's going to take a very big banana skin under Man Utd in the coming weeks to shove the title back to Anfield. Sad, as for the main part we have been great this season.

Just shows doesn't it, that doing the double over our main rivals doesn't count for much other than local pride. I'm referring back to the home games against Stoke, Hull West Ham etc, that should have been put away instead..

        Saturday, 09 May 2009: - West Ham v Liverpool, 17:30

        Sunday, 17 May 2009: - West Brom v Liverpool, 13:30

        Sunday, 24 May 2009: - Liverpool v Tottenham, 16:00

I reckon we will win all our remaining games although I reckon it will be a scrappy match against West Ham as they are quite a good team at their home ground.

I guess it is hard for Manchester United to drop six points so late into the game now.

Unfortunately yes, two wins, a draw and a loss and they'll still be Champions no matter what we do.

I've got everything crossed but have to be realistic.

Newcastle are doomed, they are the poorest side we've played this season home & away, I think 3-0 makes them look really, really good because it could easily have been 6 or 7 if we were on top form.

Benayoun and Kuyt very good again.
Amazing that some people still want to see Dirk sold in the summer. Since Torres has come in and we've settled on the 4-2-3-1 for nearly every game, Kuyt has been fantastic, he's made the right-hand-side his own. He can't do loads of step-overs and occasionally his touch lets him down, but he's clever, almost always makes the right choices with the ball and takes up great positions when off the ball. 14 goals is a decent return from the right too.

Can I just say thank you Liverpool, I really *really* enjoyed watching Newcastle lose yesterday. Had Liverpool wanted to, they could have embarassed Toon by 7 or 8 goals. God only knows what the score could have been were Torres available/picked.

Kuyt, a player who I thought was a bit sh*t has completely proven me wrong, he's fantastic.

Sami Hyypia to join Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.

It's probably the right time for Sami to go, but I'm still gutted to hear this news.

I've had more than my fair share of whinges about his lack of pace over the years, but his unquestionable aerial prowess, reading of the game, unswerving loyalty and committment to the LFC cause and knack of scoring crucial goals from set-pieces have won me over with time. I can only hope that he gets the send-off that he thoroughly deserves come his testimonial (surely he'll get one?). One of the the key figures in the start of the club's revival back in the late '90s/early millennium, without a doubt.

Suuret kiitokset muistoista, Sami! Kaikki paras Leverkusenissa! YNWA

Good luck to him, I think thats an excellent move for him. 2 more years of playing is better, for any player, than becoming a coach like he was offered at Liverpool. Amazing servant to the club and I think every single fan will wish him all the best.

Even at his age, he's far too good a player to be fourth choice so it's a good move.
One of the best signings the club has ever made.

Sami is a legend. I wish him well.

I hope he does come back though in a senior/coaching role. He was never quick but as the age came in, he still read the game very well give or take a few probs

Good performance against Newcastle but we did not make our superiority count in all honesty. Against a better team (ie Arsenal) that hurts us. Against a poorer team, it leads to draws.
Played some excellent stuff for the past few months - scored plenty but, in actual fact, should have got more.

Odd isn't it when a player moves on like Sami. It's like an end of an era.. For me I remember when we signed him and then when we went on to win all the cups back in 2001. I then remember all the things I had in my personal life, during those years and life sometimes getting me down. But the one thing that always saved me, and brought me back, was seeing the joy of other fans and player's faces when we won or did something special, and Sami was a huge part of it all. Cheers Sami !

Bit of honesty, who thought we were getting a decent player from Willem II all those years back? Bit of a bargain imho.
Hope he gets a welcome send off and he'll always be welcome at Anfield.

Been saying for ages how West Ham away was going to be a really tricky match...how wrong can you be. Thought they were absolutely awful today, one of the most comfortable wins of the season.

Lucas was impressive/composed coming in for Xabi and Kuyt was very good again, everyone else put in a pretty standard issue performance.

Over to Robinho and Co. to do us a favour please

Enjoy the next few hours. It's the last time you'll be at the top of league this season
