After just coming back from the match - well spending thirty minutes seething on the phone - I really feel that was a match spoiled by the referee and linesman. Three cards to Bolton by the end of the first half, and then the disgraceful sending off in the second half. I can't fault Liverpool. It's just if you've got money to throw at your team and then the officials are biased in the big clubs' favour, fearful of incurring their wrath, it's ruining the game. If Eduardo's going to get punished after a game, then so should Alan Wiley.

We were 2-1 up at that point as well.
I'm sure you won't agree mind. Ref gave Liverpool the game, you'd have thought it was at Anfield.
Every 50/50 went Liverpool's way, the only way the ref could have supported them more is if he wore a Liverpool shirt, stood 10 yards offside and put a hat-trick away that he said was within the rules.
I'm utterly disenfranchised with football at the moment and I can't be bothered with it, it's so unreasonably biased towards clubs in the top four, no matter where they play they get away with everything. I don't know why teams like mine bother to even turn up, because they've no chance with some of the refs out there.
I can and will blame Wiley, but Lucas' actions were disgraceful in my book.
Nothing will happen though, the ref won't even apologise, why would he need to? It wasn't against an important club, so f*ck it.Last edited by Jebus; 29-08-2009, 17:19.

It's disgraceful, it's made even worse in this situation because Davis didn't even foul Lucas.
Like I said, this kind of **** happens all the time, nobody cares, nothing happens.
I can't be bothered with football any more.

I haven't seen it yet. But the waving the card thing is horrible, its something thats been introduced by foreign players that needs stamping out of the game.
However, its not exactly the same as Eduardo diving without being touched or Ashley Cole turning his back on a referee. Its still bad enough, waving the imaginery card should be a caution, that'd stop everybody from doing it.Last edited by Adrock; 29-08-2009, 21:04.

I just watched it, they didnt replay it on MoTD so I cant be certain, but I didnt see Lucas actually waving the card.
He basically said it should be a yellow card if my lip reading skills are correct. Which is as bad as waving the card, but not as symbolic. As an incident though, if the referee deemed it was a free kick it had to be a second yellow card. It was a trip from behind as Lucas was moving through Bolton's half with the ball.
I think it seemed more likely to be a simple clip of the heel as the Bolton player chased Lucas down, wasn't a dive and wasn't a purposeful trip. Either way, the ref gave a free kick so it had to be a yellow card.
Lucas' reaction, however, was unsavoury. He didn't need to protest. It also wasn't clear what Gerrard said, but it seemed to me that he was pushing Lucas away from moaning at the ref.
edit : As for the Liverpool performance, it seems they've forgotten how to defend. The second Bolton goal was some of the most inept Liverpool defending I've seen for a good while.Last edited by Adrock; 29-08-2009, 22:36.

Agree with Adrock really.
Was it a foul? Yes because he clipped his heels - unintentional, but you run that close to someone you take the risk.
Was it a yellow ? Harsh but some would have given it, some wouldn't, especially given that he was already on a yellow (which shouldn't come into it at all, but does).
As for Lucas actions, I agree with everyone here that that sort of thing should be stamped out. 3 or 4 game ban should do it, although I think that every type of arguing or influencing the ref should be punished like this.
In protest, I'm going to take Lucas out of my fantasy league team. Lets face it, he's pap anyway and if he wasn't Brazilian he's be playing in the Blue Square Premier (no disrespect to BSP teams).

I'd also like to question why a Liverpool sub was allowed to retrieve the ball and put it down for the quick corner Gerrard scored from.
When Nicky Hunt spoke to one of players in another game, he got booked from the bench for interfering with play, but apparently it's okay for a Liverpool sub to grab the ball and place it for a quick corner.
Can anyone shed any light on why that was allowed?

Jebus, its a conspiracy to allow Liverpool to win.
There is a clause in the FA rule book that states Liverpool must be allowed a top half finish every season.
I think the second yellow wasn't helped by Bolton's reputation as a team to stick it about a bit. Which might not be fair, but thats how the game has always worked.
