Yeah, losing Raul leaves us a bit short in the middle but we've kept Maxi and added Bellamy so the likes of Downing and Henderson can always play more centrally if needed - as they often did at their previous clubs, our midfield is pretty versatile. Oh, and there's always that Gerrard fellow to come back soon

Still a bit gutted to see him go though. Oh well, hopefully he'll "do a Torres" and turn **** at Chelsea

Gary Gillespie reckons Adam is better then Alonso. The man is deluded.

Adam is very good with his distribution of the ball. If he gets to a level that Alonso reached then I would be supremely happy.

Today is an interesting game. I'm hoping Carroll can get his season kick started now, he needs to get some more service from the team and he needs to link up better with Suarez.

Game over. 10 men and a defence that are all over the place. a 1-0 defeat would be a good result sadly.

Even tho we were ****e from go, I think the second yellow for Adam was a bit harsh. Since that we snowballed to our death. RIP

            Is Kelly injured?

Here's hoping KK can inspire some of the old spirit this season.

                  Why so quiet?

Things are looking very positive atm (apart from Gerrard); silly dropped points aside.

You spoke too soon. Piss poor draw at home to Swansea. We were lucky to get a point as well with some of the chances they created in the second half. Looks like the bad old days.

I have a tendency of ruining things when I speak about them!
Didn't watch the game but obviously disappointing; in times gone by we would have lost it though so it's not all bad!
Agger has been pretty damning with his comments; good lad, let's hope for a response after the break, I remain optimistic.

We desperately lack the ability to actually take games to teams and finish them off. I'm all for supporting the team and the manager but they need to admit that the Carroll purchase was a costly mistake, re-address the situation and bring in another striker.

Letting Mereiles go to a rival also was a strange decision too, and I would have rather he stayed (despite his wage concerns) and added more options in the squad, especially considering we let Aquilani who looked good in preseason go too.

Mereiles wanted to go; no point keeping him and we would have only had him for another season anyway due to his age I suspect.

Calling Carroll a costly mistake his harsh; we do need another striker for sure but I still think the management team will be vindicated with Carroll; he needs confidence and a good supply; the guy is talented its clear to see.

I personally am more concerned about Adam's ability and inconsistency. Great when it pays off but leaves gaps in the midfield and loses possession quite often too.

I dont think Adam was bought with an idea to plug holes in the midfield. Its very clear to see that Liverpool's style under Dalglish is all about attacking, his philosophy is that if Liverpool score enough goals nobody else will be able to live with them. Of course that doesn't mean defence is disregarded as folly, the team still works on their defensive shape and tactics but the first concern is to break down the opponents through fluid passing and movement. That is exactly what Adam gives you, yes he can be hit and miss but his passing and vision is at a level that is required when you're looking to get at teams and wear them down.

Lucas is his pragmatic partner who does all of the dirty work and gets the ball recycled quickly to a player who can do more damage with it.

As for Carroll, I think he needs more time. He has moved to a team who play a different brand of football and he needs to adapt to the new style, that'll take time. Against Swansea the miss was the obvious talking point but his work throughout the rest of that appearance was encouraging. He worked hard and got himself into positions but the team were poor in the whole. It annoys me that people are already writing him off. Same old rubbish that Lucas suffered.

Suarez is a player who is gaining all the plaudits but an evaluation of his game shows he has some weak points that can be infuriating, especially when playing the likes of Norwich or Swansea. His willingness to shoot on sight does lead to him foregoing the obvious pass to either carry on building the attack up or give a team mate an opportunity to score.

I'm not being negative about Suarez, those traits described above are exactly what make him the player he is and I wouldn't wish him to make wholesale changes to his game. I'm just trying to make the point that both Carroll and Suarez have issues with their game. One is hailed as the new emperor whilst the other is being rubbished already despite the fact he spent the best part of a year out injured and has only just started to regain full fitness.

I understand what you guys are saying. The issue with Carroll obviously stems from his price tag which is obviously not his fault, but the club vastly vastly over paid and we need a player who could play in the style Kenny was obviously trying to create last season. A fluid team that could change formation with every game. This season, to accomodate Carroll we have had to play a lot of 4-4-2 when last season some of our best stuff was with a 4-4-3 with Kuyt, Surarez and Maxi/Merieles up front inter changing.

I really do hope Carroll improves and makes me eat my words but at the moment he just looks so slow and out of his depth at the moment. Another winger to add more pace on the right (or even Johnson on the wing with Kelly behind) is also needed. Adam Johnson would be a fantastic addition who i think Man City might let go for around the 15m mark.

I'd love Johnson but City have no reason to sell and we wouldn't compete with wages anyhow.

Rumours on Tevez seem to be building; again the realist in me says no but he is probably the only ex-utd player I could stomach! (Unless Young became available!).
